I try to avoid implementing the Raccoon Leaf powerup
EDIT: the Tanooki suit as well, in most occasions.

Let me guess, the Tanooki Suit is much more better in almost every way?

SMBX would look better if the vanilla graphics has the tileset from both Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins & Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3*
*But not in SMB3 style.

In my opinion SMBX would be great if it had a sort of "Bring your own Graphics, sound/music" version. It would be less problematic for SMBX since Nintendo cant go after a copyright for a program they did not build nor have the source code too. The only things they can get as copyrighted IP are graphics/sound/music that are provided by default by SMBX. What it boils down to is, there should be a version available for download that has all the graphic edited to have placeholders for all the npcs/players/sound/music/etc. It would of course slow down episode and level production as each developer or development team would have to supply their own graphics, sound, and music but it would also encourage greater creativity and make a lot of levels and episodes stand out and not look so generic.

But it would kinda clash with the colored 16-bit gfx. Plus, you can easily port the tileset to SMBX with custom gfx.

Actually, this happened a few years ago, but it never saw the light of day. Basically, Redigit was planning on doing a retool of SMBX called "Super X" in that it would be like SMBX but just without the Mario characters and music, in order to prevent infringement. It became more widespread around the community and some people were speculating it would have Terraria characters and music, but from what we know we don't know if it will ever see the light of day or if it was abandoned.

Still could be done since all the graphics, sound, music ARE externally included. I understand some are also hardcoded but that can be worked around too.

This basically does it I think: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=5127. There's a whole ton of resources built around it and a good portion of all of the enemies resprited

Another opinion: I prefer calling rinkas "mecha spaghettios" just like in the iwbtg communauty.

We don't know. All we know was the initial planning stages.

I think SMBX 2.0 & 1.4.4 should have more gameplay elements from any of these 2 "Super Mario" games that no one in this community even gives a fuck about:
- Super Mario Bros. Special
- Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

I don't believe there was much information about it. Maybe nothing beyond a title (though I would probably need verification from a user in the community at the time )

Well in my opinion, my idea to change the way SMBX into a generic platform engine which would allow creators to make it Mario IF they see fit and wish to take the chance of Nintendo shutting them down is a good idea because if any of you have noticed in the past months Nintendo has systematically gone on a fan game witch hunt. Shutting down fan games all over the place, if we are not careful SMBX will be sent back to the grave again. Even the domain name for this site is a risky idea.

It's not a big problem since as it's been stated many times: Nintendo is well aware that SMBX exists and makes money off of it too. PGE is basically generic anyway and can be configured to have no Mario-related content

I'm positive Nintendo isn't gonna shut down SMBX again because they're making money off of their ads whenever you search for Super Mario Bros X. And even if they would, it's a bit too late because SMBX is almost everywhere you look.

As people said before, Nintendo gets money out of SMBX, and they are also aware of its existance. If they wanted to take it down they would have already done it at this point. Also, Nintendo takes down mostly remakes of their games.

I have a pet peeve of seeing SMBX videos on Youtube be about SMBX 38a as they appear far more frequently than videos about SMBX 1.3. It's pretty disheartening considering 1.3 has potentially far more to offer than 38a now with PGE and LunaLua.
