MaGLX has a better concept than the CCs. I think that the restrictions make people make way more creative levels (kinda like the SVLC 2k16, actually).

Is there a rule about the lenght of the level or it can be as long as we want it?

The general rule of thumb is that if you get bored designing/playing the level, even after having done it for a very long time, it's too long.

If a level contains gameplay around 10 minutes worth or longer, then most likely it's too long. The player wants to enjoy the level without getting tired and bored of it.

A non-linear level should consist of many different paths that lead to the goal rather than random switches.

And I think the music choice is more important than custom graphics... (Gen 2, anyone?)

Personally I prefer Gen 4 because I'm blinded by nostalgia, but a lot of my favorites are from Gen 5, which I blame on there being so many new Pokémon introduced lmao

Mine are usually around 1 or 2 minute SMB3 length levels.

I hate it whens mods break good topic cycles. It leaves me with an empty feeling.

No controversial SMBX opinions so far, whatever those are. I need an example or something because everything so far is just different preferences about design and other aesthetic junk.

aesthetic junk is best junk ~(˘▾˘~)

It's okay, but it's quite buggy and the physics is off.

I agree. That game is just way too buggy to be closed source IMO.

And one thing :
People being love Linear levels than non-linear levels.
People don't like underwater level(s) just because too many maneuver movements.
