Hi there.
So I have a friend who wants to download SMBX, but he has a Mac, and I can't seem to find anything as far as Mac downloads for SMBX. Can it be downloaded on a Mac? If so, I'd love a d-link. Thanks!

Well it looks like you'll have to use something called Wine Bottler/Wineskin or something... I don't have a Mac to test this, but maybe someone else could add on to this.

He'd have to use Boot Camp or something smilar to dualboot a Windows OS on his Mac.
There isn't a version of SMBx specifically written for OSX, no

You have to either use Wine or actual Windows to run it (source: I am a Mac user). You can use the emulator Parallels Desktop as I do to run it but it costs money.

Parallel Windows
I think that He/She will have to buy a copy of Parallel Windows (a program that allows you to run different versions of Microsoft Windows on your Mac's desktop. BTW the default versions of windows used on Parallel is Windows XP.)

Well I have never tried this, but try the topic for running it on linux. It might work if you do it right.

I would say it was useful enough to be accepted.

michelfp posted a tutorial for installing SMBX on a Mac but this was on Knux's site and the topic has been deleted.
If I were you, I'd run Windows on the Mac and install SMBX from there. I don't think CodeWeavers would work as SMBX probably won't be supported.

Tell your friend to get "Platform Game Engine." it is just what the title says, and it is compatible with SMBX, although it is still in beta.

Did you check out this thread, GamePlayer0105? The main SMBX download at www.supermariobrosx.org won't run at all on a Mac, since it's a Windows executable. The thread I linked you to contains a download that allows you to run SMBX through Wine, which is about 95% functional, courtesy of Axiom and someone named UltraMario.

I got an smbx 1.3.0.1 port from the porting team (needed to sign up though[used google if I remember correctly]) and it works just fine. Here's the link: http://portingteam.com/files/file/8167- ... io-bros-x/
Step one: Open the link. In the upper right corner, click create account and create your account. You will be redirected to the front page.
Step two: Come back here and click the link again. Click Download Freeware Port. Now select the one compatible with your computer. You will be taken to MEGA. Select Download through your browser. If you've got MEGAsynk working, you can use that, as long as it gets to your computer. Not sure which version to try? Just give 1.00 a try. If that does not work, try 1.02. (Remember to un.zip the file!)
(PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WILL BE VERSION 1.3.0.1 NOT 2.0)
In order to get to the %appdata% for smbx (where the data for smbx is stored[episodes, sounds, music ect]), right click smbx, and select Show Package Contents. A Finder window should open. From there, select drive_c[alias]>Program Files>SMBX.
Replace this process with the process of going to %appdata% and finding the SMBX folder.
Tada! Now you can folow those windows instructions for installing episodes! I hope this helps!
