M29 Host Signups (Poll!)

Postby underFlo » Mon Apr 04, 2016 3:30 pm

Oh man it's 404 day I hope you're enjoying your errors.

Mafia 29

We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to Zeldamaster12, but he will not be hosting. :(

How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your two Game Masters, Pseudo-dino and I (there's FallingSnow too but he doesn't show up that often), will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.

Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 15-20 players.
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4/5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

Ready for Mafia?
Think up some ideas!

Kind of a bit different than the usual Mafia games. What do you think?

M__: Nuclear Politics

After a tragic uranium incident in the Town, different groups have formed to try to take power; but their way of getting there isn't so good. The side effects of the melt-down are also causing unwarranted effects.

The Greed Group
Oligarchist: The leader of the Greed Group. His Lynch vote counts as 2 and he is immune to Nightkills. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Tax Collector: The much hated man of the town. They can charge a person an immense amount of money each Night, making them unable to use their ability the next Night.
Vile Cop: A cop turned bad. They can throw a person in jail each Night making them unable to speak the next Day. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.

The Clever Group
Scribe: The very knowledgeable leader of the Clever Group. They can paint themself any colour each Night (red, blue, purple, or green). That colour will last until the end of the next Day phase. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Trickster: The tricky member of the Town who never plays by the rules. They can choose a player each Night; that player's Lynch vote will count as -1 the following day period if they vote. (This isn't -1 subtracted from their normal Lynch vote power.) Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Mad Scientist: A maniac crazed by brief exposure to some poisonous gases from one of their experiments. Once during the game, they can unleash the powers of their chemicals to kill a player, however they will die too (and this does not count as the Nightkill). Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.

The Town
Sheriff: Can inspect a player to find out their colour each Night.
Security Engineer: Can safeguard a player each Night from a Nightkill, but not from an ability.
Chemist: Can safeguard a player each Night from an ability used against them, but not a Nightkill. Immune to the affects of Nuclear Aftermath.
Chemist's Assistant: Immune to the affects of Nuclear Aftermath.
Postman: Can post an anonynous message that will be displayed at the end of each Night.
Narcissist: Is strongly convinced that they're special, but they have no special abilities. (Still cardflips blue and counts as one, but technically has the same role as a Townie.)
Townie
Townie
Townie

Townie
Townie

History Fanatic: Knows their identity as the History Fanatic.

Game Mechanics
Cardflip: The colour of players will be revealed upon death, but not the true colour if their colour was changed by an ability.
Greed Group/Clever Group Win Conditions: Must be the last group remaining standing and must outnumber the specials (Blue) including the Chemist's Assistant.
Town Win Conditions: Avoid being taken over by the uprising groups. Wins if there are no more members of Groups alive.
Nuclear Aftermath: By RNG (Random Number Generator), two players will be affected by one of the following effects for the duration of a Day phase: (1) Silencing (2) Lynch vote counts as 0 (or less if they are affected by the Trickster's ability). This can affect any player, but is chosen randomly each Day and ends at the beginning of the next Night.
Pseudo-dino wrote:Having the mafia win conditions be based on only the blues diminishes normal townies' importance quite a bit but that's OK if you're cool with it.
On that note, does the Narcissist count as a blue?
How does a nuclear aftermath happen? Does it just happen to two random players every day?
The mad scientist takes someone down with them, right? That's not technically stated in the description.
It's good though apart from those clarifications. The Trickster is a pretty cool role.
edit: ok 100% good now
Spinda wrote:What role does the Narcissist think he is?
Not sure if I like a potential 3x vote by the Obligarchist (or, generally, powers given to the last remaining player - I feel like this may be rubberbanding a bit too much)

Here's my idea, how about it?

Bowser’s Mafia Attacks the Mushroom Kingdom

Cardflip
20 Players
Can Refract lynch votes by posting in bold green

There’s trouble in the Mushroom Kingdom, after all of bowser’s failed attempts to take over the mushroom kingdom, he came up with a new plan, a plan that involved the idea of a mafia. So he decided to gather some of his troops and form a mafia to take over the mushroom kingdom, Mario and luigi were informed of this by a toad that overheard their plan from afar, they were also informed that the mafia that bowser created are masters of disguise so they have to try to be careful if they want to take down bowser’s mafia. The kongs also found out about this and ended up being involved as well, but are working on a different plan. so with that, Mario and Luigi and a few of the others get ready to take down Bowser’s mafia and save the Mushroom Kingdom once again.

Bowser's Mafia
Bowser:He’s the one who’s leading his Mafia, but he cardflips green, lynch votes count as 2, and he’s immune to night kills. Discusses with his mafia who to kill.
Bowser Jr.:He can block one player’s ability each night, and if bowser dies, his lynch votes count as 2. Discusses with the other mafia who to kill.
Potion Bro: This hammer bro learned to use throwing potions and how to brew them, and therefore is able to paint a player green, red, blue, or orange, each night but can only use each color once. Discusses with the other mafia who to kill.
Koopatrol:can ram someone with the spike on his head each night, injuring them, causing them to not be able to speak the next day phase. Discusses with the other mafia who to kill.

The Mushroom Town
Mario: Since he’s very familiar with bowser and his minions, he can find out the color of someone each night.
Luigi: Can convince one person of their choice to change their vote to someone else of their choice, If Mario dies, lynch votes count as two.
Peach: Can use a starman to protect someone from being killed each night phase.
Bomb Toad: Can blast someone with a bomb every night but loses ability for 2 nights if he kills someone from The Mushroom town
Yoshi: Has no special abilities but is in contact with Birdo.
Birdo: Has no special abilities but is in contact with Yoshi.
Toad: No special abilities, participants in daily lynching
Toad
Toad
Toad
Toad

Mysterious Toad: This Toad acts rather nervous or suspicious at times even though he’s innocent, he doesn’t know that he’s the Mysterious Toad, and cardflips red.

The Kongs
Donkey Kong: Can bash someone over the head with his fists each night, killing them. Knows who the other kongs are.
Diddy Kong: Can distract someone each night, distracting them too much to use their ability. Knows who the other kongs are.
Dixie Kong: Can use a magical banana during a night to revive one of their dead teammates, but can only do it once, knows who the other kongs are.

WIN CONDITIONS:
Bowser’s Mafia: Have at least Mario dead and outnumber the town, and the Kongs
The Mushroom Town: Take down all of Bowser’s Mafia and The Kongs
The Kongs: Be the last team remaining
Pseudo-dino wrote:23 players is too many given the current interest in Mafia. You should remove some roles, perhaps the kong team?
The Potion Bro. seems a little overpowered. I would cut down the colors it gets to use, or limit the frequency of usage.
I also don't really "get" the point of the shopkeeper, but you can keep it if you want. It just doesn't seem like a very fun role to play as.
Adding rules about voting (such as retracting) is fine by the way as long as you make it clear in the outline.

edit: yep it's good now

Midnight on the Docks
16 players
Cardflip
Town wins if all the werewolves and The Stranger are killed.
Werewolves win if the number of surviving town members equals or is less than the number of surviving werewolves.
The Stranger wins if all of the werewolves and all of the specials are killed.
Lynch votes must be in red. Bolding is optional but highly recommended.

Werewolves
Werewolf: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night.
Werewolf: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night.
Half-Lycanthrope: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night. Cardflips green when inspected or killed. During each Night phase, the Half-Lycanthrope may choose one of two things that will happen when he would die during the night. Once he chooses one of these abilities, he may not change which one he can use until the next Night phase.
1. He saves himself and becomes a regular Werewolf, cardflipping red upon inspection and death and losing all other special abilities.
2. When he chooses this ability, he must also pick a player. That player will die when the Half-Lycanthrope dies.

Town
Seer: May inspect a player each night, revealing their color to the Seer.
Acolyte: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but becomes the Seer when the current Seer dies.
Priest: May save a player from death each night.
Huntsman: May kill a player once per night. If he kills a Town member, he loses his power for the following night.
Lover: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but is in contact with the other Lover.
Lover: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but is in contact with the other Lover.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Madman: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but cardflips red upon inspection and death. Is aware that they're the Madman.

Third Party
The Stranger: Can kill a player once per night. Alongside being able to kill a player, he may choose one of three abilities each night. Once he chooses one of these abilities, he may not change which one he can use until the next Night phase.
1. He can paint himself green for the Day phase. This paint wears off the next Night phase.
2. He can place a mysterious ward on himself. If he would die during this Night phase, he may save himself.
3. Once throughout the entire game he may use this ability, invoking the anger of the Old Gods and crashing a wave into the village. This ability roleblocks every single player (not including The Stranger), and kills off a player chosen at random (this can also include The Stranger). Once this ability is used, The Stranger cannot make a kill during the following Night phase, although he can still use one of his other two abilities.
Pseudo-dino wrote:Approved, the alternate abilities are implemented pretty well.

I'd like to post my mystery game here, but since it plays off of M18 and even I don't really remember what M18 was like at this point, I decided to post this instead:

A year after the events of M18: Murderize Me, Captain, not all is well in Taco King once again. The ghost pirates have returned, and it seems that they've sent the denizens of the restaurant back in time to the events of their first attack, in the hopes that they might wreak their horrible vengeance this time around. Yep, it's basically the exact same thing as the first time around, except for the possibility of more activity!

M29: A Fistful of Tacos
Format: Cardflip - 17 players

Ghost Pirates
Captain: The leader of the ghost pirates, who can disguise himself as a mortal. Cardflips green.
First Mate: The Captain's closest confidant. If he is lynched, he can choose to kill one of the players who voted for him.
Sexy Pirate: An attractive ghost pirate. She can distract one player each night and prevent that player's ability from working.
Mr. Skull: A ghost pirate with no skin. He's so spooky that he can sneak up behind one player each night to prevent that player from speaking on the next day.
(All members have contact with each other and conspire to kill one player each night.)
Goal: Eliminate the Burrito Queen agents and equal or outnumber the management and customers.

Management & Customers
Manager: The manager of this Taco King location. She keeps a watchful eye on the restaurant and can watch one player on the security cameras each night to learn who visits that player, and if that player visits another (but not which specific player they visit).
Fry Cook: A brave Taco King employee, he can kill one player each night. He'll lose this ability for one night if he kills an innocent.
Cashier: Works behind the counter. She can hide one player in the cash register each night to prevent that player from being night killed. Cannot protect herself.
Hobo Joe: A guy who comes to Taco King so regularly that he's considered part of management. Everyone recognizes him, so he can reveal his role to one player each night.
Truck Driver: Steaming hot bun delivery here! He has a list of staff in his truck that he consult once per night to learn a player's color.
Krustomer: A person who was eating at Taco King before the ghost pirates escaped. No special abilities.
Krustomer
Krustomer
Krustomer
Krustomer
Ghost Customer: A customer who was killed by the ghost pirates when they attacked, but hasn't realized it yet. No special abilities, but cardflips red.
Goal: Eliminate the ghost pirates and Burrito Queen agents.

Burrito Queen
Saboteur: A tricky Burrito Queen agent. If another player uses their ability on him, they will end up targeting themselves instead (so the Fry Cook will kill himself, the Saboteur will learn the Truck Driver's color, etc.). Cannot protect himself from a Ghost Pirate murder. Additionally, he can choose to kill one player each night but can only do this once throughout the whole game.
Secret Agent: A contractor hired by Burrito Queen to take out Taco King employees. She can paint one player orange once throughout the whole game. Additionally, she can choose to kill one player each night but can only do this once throughout the whole game.
(Both members have contact with each other.)
Goal: Eliminate the ghost pirates and equal or outnumber the management and customers.

- Power usage is optional.
- Insta-lynches can happen.

18 players
Cardflip
Role usage is optional

M29: The return of SORA

Lore: After a long time of the infamously awful group SORA being dead, joey started to look uglier than usual, this annoyed the former SORA members, and they are now starting a full fledged "attack" on the smbx forums. With their new recruit, only the forbidden skill of "not being an ape" can defeat them.

A former member of the smbx community took notice of this shitstorm, and he has decided that it's up to him to end it all.

SORA (Stop Online Retardedness Act) - Win condition: Outnumber the smbx community and the savior of the smbx community. They can choose someone to kill through account hijacking each night.

Nien: Can target someone to trigger them each night. This will disable the target's night ability for the current night and will silence them for the following day phase. Cannot be used twice in a row on the same target.
Pixy: Selects a player and a word which has a length equal or longer than 6 letters. If the selected player says that word, pixy will argue under that word for the entirety of the day phase, making the player die at the end of it.
Michelfp: Can pretend to get banned, faking his death once throughout the entire game at the end of the phase it's used in. He will still be alive, but he will be marked as dead on the player list. (if he gets killed after faking his death, a second death message will be posted.)
AeroMatter: Can install spyware on a target's computer each night. AeroMatter will be able to learn the contents of all of the PMs the target sent to the host during the respective night phase.

The SMBX community: - Win condition: Get rid of SORA and the savior of the smbx community
Joey: Being the main target of SORA, and the head administrator of the forums, he'll use everything to stop the conflicts. He can use any blue ability of his choice each night, regardless of them being alive or not. Can only use one ability per night.
Valtteri: Can pretend to go inactive, faking his death once throughout the entire game at the end of the phase it's used in. He will still be alive, but he will be marked as dead on the player list. (if he gets killed after faking his death, a second death message will be posted.)
Pseudo-dino: Being someone who wants the users to be at peace, he can stop any hijack attacks on a targetted player each night, saving them from death.
Redigit: Given that he's fucking redigit, he can ask anyone about their color each night. The target will gladly give away this information without any objections.
Zeldamaster (mod): Knows who the other moderator is, he can discuss who to ban (kill) with the other moderator each night. If one of the moderators dies, they can't choose a kill target anymore.
Squishy Rex (mod)

Qig: Made a deal with harley himself, making him immune to night kills. This is in exchange for him to cardflip yellow upon death.

The savior of the smbx community - Win condition: Be the last player alive
Knux: Can choose to kill someone each phase. This will go through nightkill immunity. Knux is immune to night kills. Can't use his ability two phases in a row.

resubmitting
M27: Chaos of Powers
Some fuckers (the mafia) decided to go against the town for no reason and every special is too scared of them to use their power, so they can only give it to someone else, hoping that he isn't a bad dude.

-15 players
-Cardflip
-Instas can't happen.
-Power usage is optional.
-In this game every special doesn't use their power, but they give it to someone of their choice.
-The game starts with a starting phase of 12 hours where specials can give their power to someone. The mafia can't kill, too. After this phase the game goes to the night phase and continues in the night-day cycle.
-Specials can give their power in the day and it'll be used in the night. The players who have got a power and didn't use it won't be able to use in the next night.

M29: The SMBX Forum Mafia 2: The Rise of Ridleygit

14 Players
Cardflip

Fusions

Ridleygit
Visits a player every night
If that player is possessed by Bloodedge, he’ll be driven out of that players body and loses all his special power until the day after the next one
If that player isn’t possessed by Bloodedge, he’ll be annoyed by Ridleygit so much that he won’t be able to talk the next day
Can choose to kill off Ignoritus at any night
As long as Ignoritus is alive, he can overwrite half of Ignoritus’ lynch vote
Can get any PMs a player of his choice got by the host as long as Ignoritus is alive by using his former ability. This counts as a visit by Ignoritus

AeroMarinite
Flips as a ghost
Can possess a player of his choice by using Kappa Stars for one night
He’ll choose this player’s target for that night

Mechedit888
Can trap a player in an incredibly nonlinear and unclear level with Touhou elements every night. That player won’t finish the level so he won’t be able to use any of his powers that night.

Pseudo-rex
Can make a graphic to change a player’s color for one cycle once in the game
2-hit BP

Genuine Users

glitch4
Can run to a player and steal his things
Will steal any Dr. Pepper (and instantly drink/destroy it) and will also protect a player from AeroMarinite’s and mechedit888’s powers
Will also steal any items this player has
However, he can only use this every even night because otherwise he’s too inactive to do that

RoundPiplup
Has a total of 3 vests to distribute
Can’t give a vest to a player he’s already given a vest to

GhostBot
Flips as a ghost
Has a total of 2 guns to distribute
Can’t give a gun to a player he’s already given a gun to

qig
Cop
1-Shot Vigi as soon as Bloodedge's Ghost is dead because he thinks it may be Nien's ghost

Blue Bomber
Flips as a fusion
Can make an unfair alliance with a player to protect them from dying

Joey
Can post a message that’s anonymously posted at the start of the next day
Has to look like a formal announcement

Linik
Has an unique color
Everyone who visited him in the night will get revealed the next day

Ignoritus
Has been chosen to live again, just so Ridleygit can see him suffer
As soon as he dies, he gets revived instantly (without the town getting notified)
Exception: Ridleygit can kill him at any night without using the fusion’s night kill
Half of his lynch vote gets overwritten by Ridleygit’s
Doesn’t prevent the fusions from winning
Normal townsperson if Ridleygit dies

Third Parties

The Wizard of EZ
Can give a can of Dr. Emral to a player every day
Wins if every living player owns a can

Bloodedge's Ghost
Possesses a random player’s body every night; dies if that player dies
If he is targeted (not counting N1): 1-Shot BP
Can still get hit by everything that isn’t a kill
His lynch vote overrides the one of his host, so he has a double vote
Wins if alive at the end of the game

M__: Nuclear Politics

After a tragic uranium incident in the Town, different groups have formed to try to take power; but their way of getting there isn't so good. The side effects of the melt-down are also causing unwarranted effects.

The Greed Group
Oligarchist: The leader of the Greed Tribe. His Lynch vote counts as 2 and he is immune to Nightkills. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night. If they are the last remaining member of their team, their Lynch vote counts as 3.
Tax Collector: The much hated mean of the town. They can charge a person an immense amount of money each Night, making them unable to use their ability the next Night. If they are the last remaing member on their team, their target's lynch vote will also count as 0 (in addition to their normal ability).
Vile Cop: A cop turned bad. They can throw a person in jail each Night making them unable to speak the next Day. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.

The Clever Group
Scribe: The very knowledgeable leader of the Clever Group. They can paint themself any colour each Night (red, blue, purple, yellow, or green).
If they are the last remaining member on their team, their target's Lynch vote will be worth -2.
Mad Scientist: A maniac crazed by brief exposure to some poisonous gases from one of their experiments. Once during the game, they can unleash the powers of their chemicals, however they will die too (and this does not count as the Nightkill).

This can affect any player.
That means town can never win due to the other faction auto-wins when the third faction goes down.
