Another Princess Cliche! [Updated] v1.5

Story
The basic story is that it is yet ANOTHER princess cliche. Possibly supposed to be a direct sequel to the original Princess Cliche, but it's up to you to decide! You have to rescue the princess by finding 15 stars to gain access to Bowser's castle and rescue Peach yet again.

Every level has a star in it, except for Mario's house and Bowser's castle, so don't try to miss any stars ;)
16 stars to be found, but you only need 15 to beat the game!

FINAL VERSION! v1.5 consists of fixes and easier travel on the map.

Few of the custom graphics/recolored GFX were made by me, such as blue bushes in the sky level, blue background in Starhill, etc...

Short, 15+ levels or so.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.

The nogravity=1 in the sky level was awesome.

Thanks. I tried give the sky level a gravity-defying feel since it's so high up n the sky, or supposed to be.

I'm glad someone actually noticed that benign feature, because I loved it!

v1.5 is out. This version fixed some clashing, and the map now makes a big circle rather than having to back track once you hit the end.
Slight remodeling of the Underland (the level)

My review
Level Design
Spoiler: show
  1. Level Design
    1. Some levels better than others, but pretty solid. Designed creatively and not in the same fashion, most, it not all, levels are all different and don't have a "plain" or "just hold the run button and right key" feel to them.
    2. Lives are dispersed throughout the levels in a semi-hidden fashion some easily found and others (like the 3UP moon) are a little harder to find. If somehow you feel that your running out of lives/skill too fast, most levels have an abundance of coins in the levels as well; most notably in some levels, are them cloud teeth holding those golden coins just out of reach.
    3. On a last note, the level design might seem uninspired/lazy at first, but only gets amazing later on, with some great level ideas and mechanics; finishing off by paying homage to the other "Princess Cliche" by having it's boss level at the end.
Music
Spoiler: show
  1. Music
    1. Music was pretty nice, I enjoyed most of the songs used in this episode. However, while some songs match the level some don't match well with others, thus is the case with "" as the music in Section 1 doesn't match with the rest of the sections.
    2. Overall, music choices are good, and appropriate to the level; especially the ghost house
Gameplay
Spoiler: show
  1. Gameplay
    1. Fairly easy but It gets a little harder in some areas.
    2. Power-ups are spread out nicely, only offering them when needed or remembered; however the hammer suit is easily obtainable really early in the game. In a normal episode this is an issue, but seeing how it's only 15 levels it can be overlooked.
    3. Those mechanics mentioned earlier, do change the gameplay a bit, like the one mechanic in the castle: just enjoyable "thwomps can't touch me!"
    4. Lastly, I enjoyed going through it as you never know what secret is just around the next pipe.
Score
Spoiler: show
7/10 If you have time or not a lazy person it's a nice episode to play...

I remember recommending this on another forum and I shall do it again here.

Even though it is a short 15 level episode, it is definitely well executed and worthwhile to play. This episode provided some good challenge while not frustrating the player in my experience.

Thanks man, and yeah I hope you guys have minimal complaints considering I fixed some of the lag issues and edited some of the levels to add checkpoints to them and fixed some clashing.

I played it and kind of liked it. The design is simple and reminiscent to that of some of the earlier episodes made for SMBX with all those red coin challenges and sparing use of custom graphics. You could tone down a bit with all the game mixing but I didn't find any particular gameplay flaws. Good job!

Looks awesome, I love short episodes. Permission to add this to my episode manager?

What do you mean by episode manager?
I probably won't mind, but as long as I'm credited :D

It was a nice episode. I did like the simplicity of the levels. It reminds me of the Princess Cliché.

What I didn't like were some design quirks that could've been avoided. For example, some caves lack walls on each side (or a ceiling), and it's hard to tell whether a gap acts like a warp or kill the player. The levels were long enough but I didn't like how spread out the world map was. The levels in the ice world was basically devoid of any ice. There is clash in many levels, although that's an issue that doesn't really influence the score for me.

Overall, I'll give this episode a 6/10. Good work.

It seems that the combination of graphics attacked her episode. Try not to mix the next time ;).

I'm a boy.
Also, combination of graphics has nothing to do with whether or not an episode is good. The fact that this episode may have different game(s) graphics mixed in together at a few points, doesn't make it clashy.

I like when people mix different GFXs in their game, not in levels though. Mixing GFXs makes the game varied which I like.

-_-' .This is not a good thing. Only makes the episode seem look ugly :P .
