No one is trashing it. I'm just stating that it's overrated and that the game has a bad reputation, but you just want to live in your imaginary world and want to believe that people are just trashing it.

OoOoOOooh man calm down, don't be rude like that. I know i know my weakness, i usually use a lot of slopes with a bad execute, so i will fix it and trying to improve my design skill.

If you knew your weakness you wouldn't make a slope-abused level for CC12.
If you knew your weakness you wouldn't release a slope-abused episode.
If you knew your weakness you wouldn't make a fucking episode that has the same weaknesses as the previous.
It's like all the criticism you're getting is getting inside one ear and coming out of the other.

my levels are repetitive too, (and yes i stopped using the devkit for non-DA-related levels) but at least i try to do SOMETHING creative with them, maybe not mindblowing, but i try to make 'em stand out.
...not sure if i failed at doing that but i don't think so...?

I think he means that there are a lot of people that loved it, but a lot more of the higher up designers didn't favor it as much.

Think of it as like rotten tomatoes where there's the viewer rating and the critic rating.

But for the sake of the sake, its not that hard to make your levels better, Like goddammit man.
People make A whole lot of custom graphics and A whole lot of levels.
Your levels don't need to have a New gimmick that is never done before, you can use someone else's gimmicks (as long as you slightly edit them) and you can use someone else's custom graphics (just don't copy entire athmospheres), but jesus, there are like a billion different tilesets, just downloading the CGFX-pack allready grants you enough graphics. So i you would just make your own set of gfx and edit a gimmick, you are allready less unoriginal if you would do just that.

People can't just be like others, they are themselves. I love this community, but the criticizing is like, Gordon Ramsey, or Dancing Moms, OR SINGERS THAT HAVE GROWN UP! People can do what they love or comfortable with, instead of people telling you to remove that and use that. (Unless it's required then, yeah.)

Allow me to put in my 2 cents.
I remember many of us telling Alpha in the past that his graphical ideals were at the least... strange, and at worst hurtful to the eyes. I think he's taken that criticism unlike me very well after we spoke it up with him a lot more. however, I think we gave him the wrong criticism in his past works, instead of telling him what his style needs to change to when he was at his worst, he has switched into taking a well known, or custom gimmick and spammed it across his levels, making them feel weak, only differing in graphical style.
I feel like he is doing this because either 1. it's a signature way of getting really high up 2. he tried to change to a "better" level design so he doesn't have to get his old criticism.

What I'm trying to say is he takes another designer's level, so he only gets their criticism, so he doesn't have to turn back to his criticism, instead of facing his problems head on, he tries masks them up with someone else's problems.

I'm not very good at this TBH.

I see. The problem is that his levels are similar, he needs to make them a little different.

Yeah. I think if zlaker explains his/her problem(s) with your levels in a more civil way you'll take the criticism better.

For instance, here's my two cents on the subject: I don't think Camacho is a bad designer, but he could probably use less slopes and probably add unique elements to his levels to make them stand out.

I'm going to be honest, you hit the nail on the head pretty well.

Camacho, you are by no means a bad designer. You've improved a LOT from a year ago, in a span that took people like me a few years to even take a step in the direction of the designers we are at now. But I have to tell you this: while your levels are pretty decent, they all play the same. You need to be more ORIGINAL with gameplay, and you still have a few quirks on your design too. I can't be the one to point them out to you right now, I hope someone has the decency to add a little bit of detailed constructive criticism into their condescending posts and give you some tips. Hell, you could PM me and I can help you. I myself can only go far, more likely with just basic design aspects. I'd direct you to Enjl if you want to know what to do about gimmicks (no, I'm not saying he'll hand you ideas, but he may be able to direct you).
