You can't blame the author, because unfortunately you were the one who resized it on MS Paint or Paint.NET which typically messes up the graphical appearance. There is, however, a complex way involving many edits in pixels you could resize an NPC without it looking terrible but regarding that you'd have to ask Sednaiur for assistance.

That color mess up doesn't have anything to do with re-sizing. It happens when you try to save a GIF file with an improper program such as Paint 7. To save it correctly you have to use Paint.NET or MS Paint (preferably Paint.NET). There are also pixels of various sizes such as 2x3, 3x3, 4x4 and more. SMBX normally uses 2x2 pixels, so there's something else you should fix.

Normally, I wouldn't resize graphics because it takes more time and there are various processes you have make to make it look good.

You can't download Paint.NET? You can easily find it pretty much everywhere. I can PM you a link with mine if you want, but yeah, you pretty much have to start all over because it's way easier to do it that way than fixing that color mess up.

To fix the pixels problems there's no other way than fixing it pixel by pixel. That's how tedious re-sizing is.

what I did to fix this problem is to save it as another file instead of a .gif file, then I went onto photoshop and I opened the file and then convertd it to a .gif file on photoshop and it looked the way it was supposed to.

That's clever, what I did was copy and paste it on another file then save it back when I had a desktop.

Why don't you give credit to the guy who actually made it since you said you only re-sized it and made the mask. Don't just go ahead and re-size someones graphic and then don't give any shit to him also no one can use this anyway due the immense amount of pixels.
