Something is wrong with the post count.

I've seen really long posts that do not count, or so it seems, because people's post count does not seem to raise. Is there a characters limitation? Or maybe something else?

I went ahead and resynchronized the post count. I'm not sure it did much since I don't think we were having problems with this in the first place. Have you actually seen someone's post count stay the same after posting something? Keep in mind that posts get deleted sometimes, and that will decrease the post count.

I ignore if the post deletion has something to do with this, but I did see some post counts did not raise, including mine. It might have been an illusion, but still I wanted to make sure.

I think the reason could be this. At the Introduction Forum your post count does not rise up instead of all the other Forums and Categories. I think this is a weird solution why a post count does not rise just by posting anything inside the Introduction Forum...

Your post count does rise with posts in the introductions forum.
EDIT: It does now, I mean. It had been disabled.

I actually disabled increment post counter on introductions when the forum was opened because of the fact that people would keep posting "hi" in every thread in order to get more posts but Joey keeps enabling it. :(

If that's the case what could be done is alter the post count system to only raise if the post contains a certain amount of characters apart from spaces or more. And by apart of spaces I mean that people could make posts with a lot of spaces just to make it valid enough. Even if not probable, better prevent than cure.

That's not possible.

Is there at least a character limit option?

The character limit for a post can be edited, but I'd rather not touch it. Forcing users to type up long messages isn't the solution.

I wouldn't say that I'm requesting to force users to type long messages, mostly, make them write more than "Hi" or stuff like that. Those kind of posts shouldn't count.

If they write "hi", they'll be warned about it.

I just don't think we should mess with the post count. Sooner or later, this community will be mature enough to handle not spamming that forum.

@Zelda: Many people. On past forums many people posted multiple posts that barely managed to not break any rule just to increase their post count and their rank. If this is a so discussed topic it's because there IS people that actually cares about the post count.
Anyways, if you think handing out warnings shall be enough then I shall trust you guys.
