Can I edit the controls for the SMBX editor?

The keys required to move the map in editor are broken which means I can not expand my map to add more content. I was curious if there was a way to change the controls for the editor? ;)

Hover your mouse inside the SMBX editor window where you usually place your tiles and such and move it with your arrow keys. Also no, there's no way to change it by your own.

That's a shame, the keys on my keyboard are broken. Oh well, thanks. :D

Yeah, there is a way to change the controls in the SMBX editor.
In the F1 guide, it's stated that the controls in the editor are the same ones you use in the game itself, so to change the controls, you need to go to the options in the main game itself, and edit the controls from there. They'll be carried over to the editor.

No no no, I mean the controls that let me extend the map when editing. The arrow keys.

My arrow keys don't work, so I can't extend the map to add more content.

Well arrow keys are pretty damn important so I'd get a new keyboard.

That's a good point, but I'm strapped for cash and I was wondering if there was a temporary solution.
8-)

Get PGE, it lets you scroll the level with scroll bars.

Does your keyboard have a NumPad? If you disable NumLock, the NumPad keys will become secondary arrow keys. Other than that, you could Google ways to remap your keyboard. I'm sure there exists easy software for this purpose. I know with GlovePie you can map keys on a Wiimote that's connected to the PC via Bluetooth.

I'm a bit late, but you can use AutoHotkey. I made an AutoHotkey script that will remap WASD to the arrow keys while the SMBX or PGE editor is open. You can pause the script with F11.(For doing anything text-related in the editor)
It'll also include a few cheat hotkeys which can be used with Shift+1-9.

SMBX Hotkey Script
AutoHotkey Download

Download AutoHotkey and run the script, and you should be good to go. If you want to run the script on startup, read this. Throw the script into the startup folder.

This is probably not the best or easiest way to do this, but it works for me. It's nice to be able to use cheat codes on the fly anyway.

I think i found a way of remapping the arrow keys to something else on your keyboard.
Use Sharpkeys. It allows you to remap other keys to different keys on your keyboard and then writes them to the windows registry.
