Hardest Video Game Levels

Postby [Egg]Egg » Wed Feb 03, 2016 2:09 am

These levels are enough for you to smash the controller and throw the console outside. I am adding more soon.

Difficulty-O-Meter is an explanation of how hard the level is.

IMPOSSIBRU TO FAIL to IMPOSSIBRU!

Level 1180 - Candy Crush Saga
Difficulty-O-Meter: Image

Image
It actually isn't impossible, don't listen to the difficulty-o-meter. Have a look at this. Looks innocent enough? Say hi to your new friends, licorice swirls to block those special candies, hard to remove bombs, narrow board space making it harder to make those combos that you need, and marmalade covering the bombs making it even harder to rip the bombs off. That's enough to throw your console out in rage and smash the controller.
Tubular - Super Mario World
Difficulty-O-Meter: INSANE
Image
Tubular had broken consoles and controllers everywhere. Seriously. Frustration everywhere. Seriously. If an average child had to do this level, they'd throw out the console and break the controller while giving the middle finger to the TV. Not a good time for the 90's.
Poochy Ain't Stupid - Yoshi's Island and Super Mario Advance 3
Difficulty-O-Meter: Hard
Image
In this level, our beloved doge Poochy is actually stupid. Seriously. It's also boring and the gigantic tap-tap thinks you're gonna lose by trying to squash you into a yoshi-pancake. How hard and stupid.
The Omega(Ω) Ruins
Image
We need some violence in here. Looks innocent enough, but that it's super hard.
Clubstep - Geometry Dash
Difficulty-O-Meter: Extreme
Image
He ain't needing the dubstep to kick your ass. This demon can kick your ass and force you to sue robtop a million dollars for the price of $2.49 for a simple game an average 8-year old could make.
20/20/20/20 Mode - Five Nights At Freddy's
Difficulty-O-Meter: This level broke it.
Image
Nightmare mode. Can't have a list without horror, eh? This is the only way to get your third and final star in the first two games. Now, on topic. If you are a noob and trying this mode then your ass will be most likely whooped by either Foxy, Chica, Bonnie or Freddy himself. Train on night 5 before doing this.
All Common Challenge - Jurassic World: The Game
Difficulty-O-Meter: Extreme
A game based after an epic movie [s]with dinosaurs kicking your ass[/s], All common challenge is very hard. It is a challenge that forces you to only use commons against legendary dinos. How hard. Picture for this coming soon.
Stone Cyclone Galaxy - Super Mario Galaxy 2
Image
Only level in the game to have Tox Boxes. But one mistake and you're turned into a red pancake with blood scattered all over the floor. Very hard level for players.
World 8-Airship - Super Mario Bros 3
Difficulty-O-meter: Hard
Jumping from one airship to another is hard, but what's even harder is the physics which could make you fall to your death.

Super Mario Maker/Fan-made levels

Pit Of Panga: U-Break - Super Mario Maker

ID: BC5E-0000-00D4-CD7C

Difficulty-O-meter: Insane
How can I explain this?

Tricky Mario: Val's Shellspace by Val

Difficulty-O-Meter: Very Insane

ID: 534B-0000-01DE-2947
According to the creator, he spent 61 hours and 32873 attempts to upload the level.

Pit Of Panga: The Cape Escape

ID: 4722-0000-0195-ECE5

Difficulty-O-Meter: On the verge of even being possible at all.
Completion rate of it is just 20/232229 (0.00% clearance rate)

You know, I thought Poochy Ain't Stupid was the hardest level of all time for a while, until I realized how short it was. I kept getting demoralized dying 30 seconds into the level, thinking that I had only gotten like 10% of the way through, but it actually takes around 2 minutes to beat (being an autoscrolling level) and almost all of the collectibles are really easy to get. The World 3 extra stage, with the floating platforms and a shit load of grinders, is honestly much harder (for me at least).

edit: also you can totally cheese tubular by bringing a blue yoshi to the level and flying above everything. one of the koopas flies close enough to the first hole to jump off and eat it. the regular way is nuts though

You should add Stone Cyclone Galaxy. It's in one of the Super Mario Galaxy Games.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Dark Palace Boss: Moldorm
Let's be serious, everyone that fight against him have some problems at hitting his tail. The First boss was easy, the second was even okay, but the third is a pain! Even worse if you didn't had enough heart containers, because when you die on his battle, you return for the dungeon entrance! I'm not sure if it's only with me, but I ever have a problem with him.

Donkey Kong Country 3
Lighting Lookout
You know that it's dangerous be neat trees on a rainstorm, right? At this case, it's even more worse! It's better you be ready to be stroke a lot by Lighting, or you can throw your control at the wall.

Adventures of Lolo
9th Floor
Be ready to have a brain hurt on solving the puzzles of this floor. Not so much to say, just so much timing training on this floor.

Super Mario RPG: The Legend of 7 Stars
Culex Battle
Don't forget to bring a Lazy Shell and some good items, and make good use of Peach's healing abilities, or you're going to die before you even notice. Maybe even luck is required here.

Donkey Kong Country Snow Barrel Blast
It's one of the last levels in the game, and that's understandable. I mean, it combines the barrels and a nasty wind gimmick. That level gave me nightmares.

Rayman Bongo Hills
Well, that's a thing. Hellish platforming, giant enemies and such a looong level. All the different "rooms" of this level are something special, and if you remember that this is the first level of the second world doesn't make the situation better.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 The Perfect Run
Up to this day, I couldn't beat that Level. I tried it so many times, but I couldn't even reach the Hammer Bros ;-;

Aztec from Goldeneye 64
I still haven't beaten this because of
how hard it was. Enemies all over with
lasers and the boss Jaws takes as much
hits as SMB3 Bowser to kill.

You can also use a cape to fly around, but that's a harder process.

The Omega Ruins are not that difficult, though you still have a slim chance of starting out with the auto-ambush "Bad Breath" attack from Great Malboro (and yes, it is always an ambush in the first half of the ruins, but not the second half). You should at least be able to equip a weapon with First Strike at that point. Or you could be like me and customize plenty of armor with Darkproof, Poisonproof, and Confuseproof for fighters; and Silenceproof, Confuseproof, Berserkproof for the mages; and Stoneproof for both.

In my opinion, the hardest area in Final Fantasy X is the Nucleus, a.k.a. the "point of no return". You have to hurry and collect each orb before it disappears, though the area itself is not timed. And auto-breath Malboro is here too.

Honorable mentions for difficulty go to Via Purifico's first half (because you start with only Yuna) and the Gagazet cave (for some giant enemies and the Sanctuary Keeper).

If any of you know, Yoshi's Island DS is one of the hardest platformers for the DS, and for good fucking reason. Good lord is it a difficult game and I legitimately broke my old DS due to the sheer difficulty, as well as my old temper.

But amongst Superhard Acrobatics, At Last Bowser's Castle! (that's the last maingame level), Yoshi's Island Easter Eggs, Welcome to Yoshi Tower!, there's that one killer little shitlevel, by far the hardest level in any video game I've ever played, A Light In The Dark. Omg I fucking hate this level. First you have to traverse a spike-filled, inside-ship darkened maze and you have to unlock certain keys and such. Then you have to do a near impossible ski challenge.

I fuckin hate that level guys.

I don't know if these count as levels, but some certain Super Mario 64 100-coin stars made me almost break my DS.

Until today I couldn't make to 100 coins in Hazy-Maze-Cave. Or yes. I don't remember.

I only remember that the only thing that I needed to finally reach to 100 was spin around that eye, but there was not enough space to spin, so it was too hard for me.

It's easy until you get to the higher levels. From there, it gets really difficult.

Heh, when it comes to hard levels, I can list quite a few.

A whole bunch of levels from the dkc2 lost world. Fiery Furnace and Jungle Jinx are the only "easy" lost world levels, and the boss is not that hard, either. The reason people hate this world is mainly because of Klobber Karnage, Black ice Battle, and Animal Antics. /Animal fucking Antics/.

Zero island South from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon explorers or sky/time/darkness, because going into a dungeon without partners, items, with 99 floors is not enough. you also start at level 1 regardless of your current level, also, I think the reward for completing this is a joy seed. What it does? Increase your level by 1. Yeah.

Sacred grounds a.k.a hell from Cave story, imagine a super mario bros x level with a bunch of pipes on the ceiling, all of them shooting chasing koopas at you. This level in a nutshell.

Hmm, is Lava Mountain Zone 2 from Sonic Lost World hard enough to be on the list?

SMB3's World 5-9, again for the diagonal auto-scrolling.

SMB1's final level 8-4. You'd better come with a fire flower in advance, and you'd better not lose it to the Cheep Cheeps, or else you're going to have to rely on the random timing of the final Hammer Brother and Podoboo.

I guess if Egg is going to include a Final Fantasy level, I'll mention the World of Darkness From FF3. Like the Omega Ruins, it is really long. But unlike the Omega Ruins, there are no saves, and you can't turn back.

Goldenrod Gym, from Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heartgold, and Soulsilver.
Goldenrod Gym is a normal-type gym. The trainers aren't bad, until you get to Whitney, the gym leader. She has two pokemon. The first is a Clefairy. You can get unlucky with its Metronome, for example, it using Hyper Beam. In all honesty, though, it is not a threat. The Miltank, on the other hand, is hell. It knows Stomp, its least threatening move, which has a 30% chance to make you flinch. The other three make this fight unfair. There's Attract, which will infatuate your Pokemon if it is the opposite gender. This basically means it will not attack for a few turns. Fortunately, you can get rid of it by switching out. It knows Rollout, by far its most threatening move. At first, it only has 30 power, which is very little. However, if it is used the next turn, it has 60. Then 120. And it keeps doubling. Once it goes to 5, 480 power, it resets the counter. Finally, it knows Milk Drink, which will restore half of its max HP.

Rollout's streak will reset if the move misses, or if Miltank uses another move. You can use random throwaway Pokemon to take the rollout hit. Probably the best strategy is to get a female Phanphy, which is resistant to Rollout and can learn Mud Slap, which lowers accuracy. Easier said than done. This is very, VERY, difficult.

Image
Kanbei's Error? on Advance Mode, from Advance Wars.
The mission is a race to get 15 bases first. Kanbei has an impressively large force, unlike the normal campaign, which is one of the easiest missions in the game. His air force will keep coming at you, which will keep you stuck. In the meantime, he will capture bases, which there are 15 near him! It is easily one of the hardest missions in the Advance Campaign.

Image
Rivals! from Advance Wars
Eagle is one of the best armies for the end of the game. If you use him, however, you must take on this mission. You have little units, and he has pretty much an entire army. He has a large air force, which is his specialty. He will absolutely destroy you.

Image
ZomBotany 2 from Plants vs. Zombies.
If you look up how to do this online, it's a piece a cake. Heck, you can beat it using only Cattails, Lily Pads, and Garlic. If you do not look up a strategy, it's hell on Earth, for Peashooter Zombie can damage your plants, whereas Gatling Pea Zombies will make mince-meat of them. Wall-Nut Zombies are basically bucketheads, but with no weakness to Magnet Shrooms. Tall-nut zombies are one of few zombies that can survive an instant (cherry bomb, jalapeno, etc), the only others being Dr. Zomboss and Gargantuar, (NOTE: Only in the first game! In the second, there are much more.). Jalapeno Zombies take a bit to explode, but if they do, gg. Squash Zombies are flat-out annoying.

Image
World 8 Airship from Super Mario Bros. 3.
Unlike the other 7 Airship levels, which is one big airship, you must jump from one tiny ship to another, while having Rocky Wrenches have the game become a bullet hell. Not to mention the physics are pretty weird there, which can easily lead to your death.
