Compressing level trouble

So I haven't done this in quite awhile but it really shouldn't be that difficult.

I'm trying to compress my level to submit it for a contest here into a .rar using winrar. When I extract the rar and open the level, I get an older version of the level. I have checked it many times over and I can't figure why it is doing this. I only have the one copy of the level and it is definitely the same one I am compressing.

Hopefully this is something that happens to noobs and someone can help :)

Thank You!

1. Why are using RAR files?
2. It's not the compression causing that, you're probably just using the wrong level file or you're doing something very wrong.

1. What should I use instead? I just thought .rars were the way to go - I guess zips instead? I'll see what other people I doing.
2. No, doing nothing wrong. I think it has something to do with the new operating system I installed and admin privileges (even though I am admin). My friend came over, looked at it and came to the same conclusion. He agreed it was extremely bizarre and could offer no advice other than not compressing the files. Really weird issue, but yeah - if I don't need to use .rars I won't.

You can use .ZIP files to compress files into it with no troubles. It works with regular Windows aswell.
