Paint.NET Beta 4.0.5152.40811

Postby Valtteri » Fri Feb 21, 2014 7:27 am

Don't download this update, it ruins everything. Making selections is now a pain in the ass because if you click a random area it rotates the selection and another random area moves the center or some shit, I don't know, but you have to click far, far away from the selection to actually move it around. And they removed the zoom in/out bar from the top which is also a fucking pointless removal. I used that. Now you have to use the magnifying glass tool which is inconvenient because you can't see the scale.

Finally, there's this new thing that makes recoloring a whole lot more difficult. When you use the can tool, it creates some sort of point that you can move to "fix" the fill, which is fucking stupid. So in order to recolor something, you pick a color with the picker, color an area, the fill moving point appears, you pick a new color to color a new area, and, oh shit, the area you colored previously got filled with the color you were intending to use to color the next area! To prevent this, you need to switch the tool to get rid of the useless as fuck fill point and then it lets you pick a color without ruining your previous edit.

In conclusion, it's fucking shit. Don't download it.

No need to be VIOLENT, Valtteri!

...although I can't exactly say I disagree, but fortunately what I use Paint.NET is still fine.

Never planned to download the update anyway, I'm way too confortable with the current version I'm using right now.

I updated to support the Paint.NET team, and I wasn't disappointed. There's a plethora of stuff added, like new gradients, shapes, improved color sliders, and new effects. The new selection system was bothersome at first, but I got the hang of it after a few tries.

I figured out that you can draw a new shape / make a new selection by pressing Enter first. I still find the feature useless, though, as you could easily rotate selections by using the right mouse button in the previous versions.

I didn't know you could rotate selections in the old version.

The only thing I don't like is how it's called "paint.net" as opposed to "Paint.NET". And the selection boxes are ugly, but I did turn the animations off.

I really hate like all of the screenshots etc of 4.0 that I've seen. I like my menus and options how they are right now.

I /really/ hope that zoom is changed back. I do all of my graphical work in pixels, and I need those defined values of 100%, 200%, 400%, ... not how it's set up right now.
