Recolored SMA2 Yoshi (now updated to include SMBX 1.4/2.0-changeable parts)

Happy new year, y'all. Celebrate with a bunch o' colored Yoshis. :3

This is a simple little recolor of the Super Mario Advance 2 Yoshi (the one with the updated matching-body-colored arms, rather than the original SNES Super Mario World orange arms). I went ahead and recolored his shoes, too, and added a lighter-colored line on the bottom of them (because the one white pixel of shine on said shoes is one pixel above the bottom, seemingly implying that the lighter line was originally there but was removed prior to the final version of the game. Hmmm...)

There are 5 sets of recolors, based on 5 different games. I matched SMBX's color lineup as closely as I could for each game, so there will be at least 7 "correctly"-colored Yoshis in each set. To illustrate, here's a screenshot of the pieces you'll be getting in the download (WARNING: large image).

And here's the download link. Have fun with 'em, boys 'n' girls:

You can't fully recolor the Shoes in smbx unless you change the hardcoded gfx

Uh...yeah you can? <_<;

I just tested them out again to make sure and they still had the differently-colored shoes at all times, providing all the graphics were properly imported.

I think you're confusing the shoes with the tongue, which is indeed one of the hardcoded graphics. :o

EDIT: Oh wait, I understand what you meant now. I didn't change the Goomba's/Podoboo's/Lakitu's Shoes; I meant the shoes Yoshi is wearing. :p

We really need more Yoshi graphics, even simple recolors can add a nice bit of flair to levels involving Yoshi.

You should make an orange yoshi too.

Actually, is it possible to use text files to make yoshi larger or smaller, or change any other variables about him, like an NPC?

They're called NPC codes for a reason: they only work on NPCs.

I did use an orange Yoshi in the Yoshi's New Island color set (replaces the black one).

But yeah, like RudeGuy said, text codes would only affect the npc-*.gif parts of the graphics (which means mostly the eggs and the Yoshis that show up as placed NPCs in the level editor), and not the other parts that the rest of Yoshi covers. *shrug* :/

Double post, but it's been over 4 months, and there's an update: I added some stuff that we're able to change in later versions of SMBX.

The download link is the same one, in the first post.

Here's a list of what was changed/added:
  • Flipped the eggs back around. Not really sure why they were reversed in the first place... <_<
  • SMBX 1.4's NSMBU blue baby Yoshi (npc-332.png) and the bubbles it spits (actually the same bubbles that are used as containers, npc-283.gif and npc-283m.gif).
  • 1.4's customizable Yoshi tongue, yoshi-0.png.
  • LunaLua's Yoshi tongue, Hardcoded-21-1.png and Hardcoded-21-2.png.
  • LunaLua's Yoshi (and probably Lakitu's Shoe? Haven't checked yet) wings, Hardcoded-19.png.
