I don't think they'll do that for the next beta release. Also, I suck at custom graphics myself, and making a playable is really hard.
i ment that you can make spike the dragon playble (with fire abilities with dll) ok?
Still, I can't do it. Also, LunaDLL is outdated, unless you meant LunaLua.

What. There are already a lot of plans for future playable characters I think, and is this request even serious?

That was just a pre-release. Beta 3 is not out yet in actuality.

Can you reopen it, just for me?

Please stop requesting this. It's getting annoying and you're derailing the thread.

Well I didn't know about this until I missed it, and I tried to get it by other means, and cannot even wait for another release because it's gonna take another 6 months until then!!!!!

Plus, I can never be satisfied when It comes to SMBX. i might as well give up on this forum and everything about smbx because i missed the pre-release when i didn't even know it happened.

Calm down dude, you act like smbx is the only thing that matters in life, and that you can't live without it.

But, i mean if you really want to give up and leave this place, just because you missed this release.. that is ur call. But tbh it's really overreacting at this moment.

Also Horikawa already mentioned on discord that 2.0 is into a nearly full release already.

Sure, leave the place and miss on every future release. Just because you didn't get the extremely limited beta.

Ssssmart move. Not.

Hi there. I heard somewhere a while ago that sprite swap NPCs (i.e. SMB 1 Buzzy Beetle vs. SMB3 Buzzy Beetle) wouldn't be implemented. I would just like to say that I think they should be for a couple of reasons.

1. They can be used to add more variety to a level or episode base folder's NPCs, such as litchh's use of SMB1 piranhas as SMB3 tall piranhas in his Plumber Mario level.

2. They provide more base NPCs to modify by text codes or lua in a level/episode.

3. They can be used to further the SMB All Stars theme of SMBX by showing subtle differences in behavior between styles.

Buzzy Beetle: SMB1 cannot be carried, SMB3 has an upside down version and cam be carried, and SMW can be carried.
Mushroom: SMW has framestyle=1 like in the game (something that Redigit forgot).
Koopas: SMB1 can't be carried, SMB3 can be, and SMW has Beach Koopas when stomped (though the Koopa hides when flipped).
Hammer Bros.: SMB1 fires a volley then stops, and SMB3 has a sparser, but constant patterm of throwing.
Bowser: SMB1 and SMB3 are already in SMBX, duh.
Fire Flower: If the player grabs a SMW flower, the fireballs appear in SMW style and turn enemies into coins.
Red Spiny: SMB1 and SMW don't make shells when flipped, and SMB3 does. SMB3 also has a ceiling variation. The SMB2 porcupo should go faster than a normal spiny, and the SMB3 sidestepper crab should get angry when bumped like in the Mario Bros. subgame.
Red Spiny Egg: SMB1 spiny eggs fall straight down when thrown by a lakitu. SMB3 and SMW ones are thrown with horizontal movement. I can't remember if a tail whack kills or turns the SMB3 eggs into shells.
Lakitu: SMW one can have his cloud stolen.

See, this can add variety to a level and calls back to the enemy's SMAS behavior. The careful player could know what a SMB1 or SMB3 hammer bro could do just by the sprite. I also think that this would make SMBX feel more "complete" just as the costumes such as SMW Mario do, and that this would be a great goal for a new version. Thank you for reading.

The reason they aren't being implemented at the moment is that we only have a few spare NPC slots, and we are instead using those for mechanically unique NPCs rather than minor modifications.

The plan is to eventually extend the possible number of NPC slots, and when we do there is no reason not to add these options.

I have a question about the limited time beta release

Why?

What's the advantage of only allowing people who were online at a specific time to download it?
