Hey
This is the first level of my project : ).
And since it's 1-1 i tried not to have gimmicks (as i tend to use them alot).
so don't expect much new things in this level, it's basically just a regular grassland level

Usually saturation decreases with distance ;3

I might test this level out later. Didn't know people still put these icons into the ground for some reason.

Nice level, I enjoyed playing it. I don't understand the stars in the lay-out, but that's just me, probably.

Ooooh, here's a good one.

Graphics : (8/10) Damn, this is gorgeous. It managed to stay unique while still following the Mario style really well. The corns and stars in the ground, and the upgraded enemy sprites were a cute touch, as well. The giant corn decorations themselves feel kinda flat, however. Maybe their shading is improper?

Sound : (5/10) looool what even is this song

also it has a very long silence before it repeats, you might want to make it loop better.

Gameplay : (7/10) Good stuff! Wasn't annoying to walk through at all, the powerups were plentiful, and the challenges were fair.....perhaps a little too fair at times? I'm all for an easy time, but there really was nothing that made me put it any effort to beat. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to suffer, but just a tiiiiiny bit of difficulty would be nice. The level started to feel a little too stale after the note blocks at the third area, but thankfully didn't overstay its welcome and ended shortly afterwards. I can infer that you got the length of the level just right. The second star was good too, but a little too easy to collect, perhaps?

Anyway, I really like the level. It's not the best, but still very enjoyable. Keep up the good work.

Edit : Oh yeah, this water tile is broken.

Thanks for the review!
But i have a think to say, its 1-1
So, i made it Easy on purpose (Which, ironically was hard for me)
And the song is an amazing theme from Kirby triple deluxe called "must dash"

My review of 1-1 Cosy Cornfields:

Well, I'd think that this was a nice relaxing level with a cool idea to use corn.
The background was a pretty nice choice and it is pretty good for a beginning level in a project.
Despite that it uses Kirby music, it was actually fitting in the environment, but speaking of the environment there are two things wrong:

1.One of the waterfall's have its bgo misplaced so it creates cutoff.

2. Are green Koopas supposed to turn into Buzzy Beetle shells when killed?

For the secret star, it was pretty easy since the located warp is on a very obvious spot you should have put a few bonus areas here and there.
But for the ending star, I felt that those two Goombas and the red Koopa Troopa was a little unnecessary....

Overall, I give it a 7.45/10 I think it was a pretty good and interesting level.

I updated the Download Ganondorf with a version without the broken water tile and with a little more venus fire traps, also the goomba's in the star section are removed aswell as some other flaws i found (a cutoff in the tileset for example)

Cosy Cornfields review

Design & Gameplay: Great
+ This level was quite fun and it did its job very well. It has everything that a first level needs: the difficulty is quite easy yet not boring, it's a bit shorter than a regular level from the episode, it's quite simple but still not a super simple straightforward stroll through some cliché grasslands. And most importantly, it's fun and charm to play. The general design was also p. good: the coin and the enemy placement is nice, there is some easily noticable difference between the sections, but they still don't feel like a completely different level, which is also a really good thing. Overall, this is a really nice first level and it'll give the player a good impression about the episode.

Atmosphere & Visuals: Good
+ The atmosphere is also really nice in almost every way. It's really charming and it gives the player determination motivation for the rest of the episode. The music (which is Kirby, of course) also fits really well and it helped making the atmosphere charming and motivating. There is a decent amount of scenery too. I didn't find any cutoffs either.
| It was weird that the saturation was big at the further part of the cornfields (the background), I would recommend it to make it sparse like the closer part of the cornfields. The music could also loop a bit better, but it's not a really big flaw in my opinion, but it's better to get fixed.
- The green koopa has a broken death effect. (a buzzy beetle's death effect)

Score: 8/10
A really enjoyable level which is also a great start for your episode
Moved to 'Pretty Good'

I know, this topic isn't actuel, but the desiner of the level asked, if I can make a video of this level,
here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VDqv1F9gjk

And a little review:
Good level with great music and custom gfx's.
To use starcoins is good and this level is a great first level.
Only one effect is wrong (look the video, you can see it there).
My score: 7.5 out of 10.

Oh whoops turns out I never actually checked this out.

In my opinion, this is a pretty good level, as long as you're not advertising it as a 1-1. This level asks too much of the player to be considered a 1-1. Maybe a 3-1, but not a 1-1.
1-1 serves as an introduction to the most basic mechanics of an episode: Movement, killing, powerup usage and, specific for this episode, star coins and the secret star.
In my eyes, you put too much in this level. Fire piranhas, jumping piranhas and hammer brothers especially are questionable choices, as they're enemies which are hard to deal with. I could excuse fire piranhas if they were placed more intelligently, since SMB3's 1-1 is fine, and that level used them.

To make a level easier, structuring it like a normal level and not adding as much NPCs is not the way to go. Difficulty also comes from terrain structure and the placement of said NPCs. Some in this level were clearly placed like you'd see in worlds 4 upwards. I'm specifically talking about the part where you got a fire plant firing from the left, and a jumping plant bothering you from the right. In a level like this, enemy movement and position should be easily processable by an unskilled player. Even if the level will feel rather boring for more experienced players. Though I wonder if you can appeal to both parts of the audience...

The music doesn't fit at all. Kirby doesn't always fit, and this song especially needs some pretty intensive setup to work. Stuff like flowers bopping left and right with the rythm of the music.

I think this level wouldn't suffer from being shorter, simpler, and more focused on being a 1-1 rather than a generic level of the episode, but easier. It does a bad job at being the former, and a pretty decent job at being the other. But hey, at least the atmosphere's nice?!? People gotta love it, right!?!

My personal numerical scores for this level are 4/10 for 1-1, and 7/10 as a standalone non-1-1 level of an episode.
