Bug on the profile page

The field "How did you find SMBX?" is required to save your profile settings. If I want to change my current project field, I need to also specify how I found SMBX. Is this intentional? It shouldn't be, imo.

Yeah, I guess you're right... that's kinda weird. Joey, why you do this?

That additional field was added somewhat recently and is now mandatory to be filled out along with the usual items when a user creates an account for the first time. I guess if you haven't filled it out before as an older user you're required to do so now.
It was originally suggested by AeroMatter
here and then Joey decided to implement it.

Yes, what PixelPest said is correct. The field is mandatory, and if you have not yet filled it out then it'll force you to when editing your profile.

Normally, that field isn't mandatory. Can you not change it or are you not willing to change it?

People who have been here since almost 2 years shouldn't really be forced to fill it out just to edit their profile.

Well at least it isn't too bad since it basically fills out the spots as of when did you even know about SMBX for the first time back then but hm...

Seriously, you ask us where we live and that's bad enough, but now you want to know how we found this?
My answer: Not on this forum, have a nice day.

You don't have to answer any of those questions thruthfully. No one stops you fron putting "nowhere" (or probably nothing at all) in there.

If you look into some profiles here, you probably find out also that about 99% here do not have their real location in.

Is there any particular reason for it to be mandatory? It seems like the most random thing. Less people are even gonna pay attention to it than they'll pay attention to the non-mandatory fields. I have nothing against the field per se, but why shove it down everyone's throat?

It's mandatory because we want to see where people come from, and it's going to stay mandatory because it's not that big of a deal.

It would have been faster just to randomly select one of the five choices or just say that your imaginary friend told you about SMBX, than make these posts. Just saying. I agree with Joey, it isn't much of an issue.

It'd probably be faster, but as you know from the title of this topic, yesterday I thought it was a bug. But yeah, now that everything is cleared up I can continue never touching that page again and this topic doesn't serve much more of a purpose.

If you're going to bump a thread, make sure it contributes to the topic. You could've just PMd Tinkerbell instead.

Oh no u i don't say
What ZM was trying to say that he bumped it qithout contributing to the actual discussion and rather post a off-topic post. It's not that hard to understand what he meant.
And for ur issue just pick one nobody said it has to be true geeze.

Yeah, while a week isn't that long of a time, AirSeus didn't contribute much with his post.
