SMB3: Lost Levels (DEMO)

Postby Fillerthefreak23 » Mon Sep 21, 2015 3:05 am

Here are some of my 1st SMBX levels, I made these in around 3 days or so.

They're SMB3 styled levels, hence the name. Like SMB3, they're rather short, but make up for it by having no checkpoints.

This is a demo, it contains the 1st whole world, but, some features are missing since I don't understand to do what. I'll lists those at the end.

This demo pack has the following:

-8 Levels

-1 world

-One bonus level

(This is the bonus level)

Overall, these levels are rather easy, since I wanted to make the 1st world easy, then keep getting harder. So you shouldn't have any unfair moments unless it's broken design.

The game will be included as a ZIP attachment below, since the file is small due to everything being stock assets from SMBX (I don't know how to make custom graphics/music yet)

Notes:

-The pipe towards the 1st Boom-Boom shouldn't be there, I want to make the wall close down to no return when Boom Boom appears on-screen, but I don't know how. So I used a 1-way pipe instead, looks kinda sloppy.

-The airship boss should be a Koopa kid, but I don't know how to make a trigger so that the level ends when they die. So I used a Boom-Boom as a temporary replacement.

I hope you enjoy. I also hope that my 1st levels weren't too sloppy and unenjoyable.

I didn't know where to place it.

I'm new to this forum. I'll post anything else related to this in the projects section instead.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

There's no need to be so rude. Keep it civil.

I made a revision.

Minor changes

-Fixed up level design issues.

-Minor level tweaks on world 1.

-Changed ends of line guides to have the SMB3 graphic, not the SMW graphic.

Major changes.

-I included a WIP of world 2, it has three levels.

-Overworld section of world two was added.

Attachment below.

Custom graphics time!

I've finally learn't how to make custom graphics, thanks to some users on the forums. Most of them will be other enemies to match the SMB3 style. (Not just color, some of 'em will have re-draws)

Here's the SMW saw blades, I redid the shading from a centered gradient to a left-to-right shading. I also added some lighter areas to the centered piece. The colors where changed to use the SMB3 color sets, along with the lighter gray outlines.

There's also a minor spoiler for the 2nd world's fortress in this picture. Sorry.

Here's the custom sprites compared to the originals. Here's the new sprites:

And here's the originals:

Feel free to use them for whatever you need it for, I don't mind at all.

The Grinder recolor is actually quite good. I look forward to seeing more graphics from you!
