Unknown Lag Problems

So here i am setting up SMBX. Iv'e used the game plenty times before and it ran perfectly fine. Earlier this year I started using Windows 8 and SMBX still ran perfectly fine. I started uninstalling some programs and i uninstalled SMBX. about a month later i decided to re-download SMBX again and once i fired up the level editor everything ran smoothly. But once it came to testing a level... eh. lets just say it has some weird lag issue. if i sat still everything ran smooth but if i pushed any button to move or jump, the game would freeze for a second then the frame-rate would go extremely high then back down and every time i tried to move the game would freeze and the frame-rate would jump. So pretty much i can't test any levels. It also does this in the main game. Iv'e been using SMBX for years and never had this problem. I know its not my PC because I just reset it and my system specs are more than enough to handle most modern games. Any advice on how to fix this?

EDIT: I recently installed Windows 10 Pro and still no difference with SMBX. Even though everything else in Windows 10 runs perfectly fine.

First disable frameskip should be activated during the splash screen... and if that doesn't work disable sounds instead.

Would you happen to have any audio codecs installed?

Is it a good or bad thing if Audio Codecs are installed or not? (And no i don't have any installed) I just did a clean install of Windows 10 so i might be missing a couple things. if i need any.

EDIT: I disable the audio and frameskip upon launch and the game ran perfectly fine. Any way to fix it so i can launch with the audio?

I asked cause audio codecs and SMBX don't work well together.

Well. I'm sure i didn't install any Audio Codecs after i installed Win10. But i'll double check to see if there is any.

And the game runs fine with the audio disabled so i can only assume its an audio codec causing the problem.

I want to say I've fixed the problem. Strangely enough my computer was actually MISSING codecs and the sounds wasn't being played correctly resulting in lag. Which is pretty weird since i was told having codecs would cause conflicts but in this case apparently not. So thanks everybody for the info. I got it fixed!

Can someone help me fix the sound on smbx? The music stopped working a couple of months ago and I am having trouble following the instructions on the website, that can fix it. I need dumbed down directions or a utube video. If anyone can help, I appreciate it!

That would make a clone thread which, I thought, is not tolerated here.

There will be a file called "SDL Mixer", it will fix your sounds (it really should work).

This is incorrect

This would create multiple threads for the same issue, which achieves nothing but wasting space and causing forum clutter.

You should try being more understanding and less bossy (especially when what you are stating is incorrect).

Like you know anything. Pseudo-dino IS a moderator. LOL. And his mistake was already addressed. And you pretty much just backseat moderated yourself. You press the report button in a proper situation and then you shut up!
