I honestly don't see the point in it. This is a forum, not Facebook.

I'd rather not go with the whole rating system on these posts because I don't want to deal with another flamewar on specific users and such unnecessary deals like leaving a member just for "bad" reputations and other unnecessary dramas.

As I said before, I've seen other forums have this...
I've seen other forums have this feature too, but that doesn't mean
we need it.

"Re: YOU KNOW WHAT PISSES ME OFF?
Wah wah why does my post have a low rating, you people are so disrespectful. Reported!"
I'd do away with meaningless features such as this, post counts, name colors, and ranks. They're nothing but trouble.

It's too easy to get obsessed with post counts. I agree, we should do away with them.

That'd actually be a nice idea. Not counting posts, only distributing a generic rank, and special ranks for staff positions.

We're not going to remove post counts because post counts aren't the problem. The problem is that people care too much about them.

I can think of 2 ways to fix that.
1) Remove them
2) Mind control all the children on this board

Suggestion 2 sounds fun! Count me in! Actually, now I feel like making a level with the following plot:
TheKingOfBoos is trying to take over the forums by mind controlling children and forcing them to make useless posts. Play as AeroMatter (Luigi) or Enjl (Peach) and defeat the evil KingOfBoos.
Or something like that

Uh, what...?
All post liking would deliver is a popularity contest and children getting angry because people are either not liking their posts or people are disliking their posts. I can see many problems ahead if we were to implement a post liking feature, just like we had with the God-awful reputation system.
Usergroups are irrelevant to this. Usergroups are an actual necessity to the forum, with the admins and mods enforcing the rules and doing staff-related things, Level Judges to judge levels and move them to the appropriate section, and Level Designers to design the official episode (which I haven't saw any progress on lately, but I know it's still a thing).
Post count isn't the problem, as Joey said. The problem is the people who care too much about it. That's one of the main reasons we had to get rid of the Introductions subforum, because people were making the same posts and/or useless posts in every single introduction thread.
By ranks, do you mean post ranks? That would fall under post count, in which one of the main reasons people care so much about their post count is to get a new post rank.
The problem isn't the post count, it's the users who care too much about it. Even then, it's not the majority of the community so it's not like it's a major problem.

Post ratings aren't needed here. While post count doesn't serve a big purpose, it causes little to no problems. Post ratings on the other hand, everyone knows that if this feature were to be implemented, it'd be like the reputation system all over again.

By "children", do you mean anyone 13 and under? /sweats
Seriously now, I was actually considering making a topic for this sort of thing, but I didn't think it through. You'd have kids (younger than 10, mind you) making angry posts on the forums because one person disliked their post that made no sense at all.

Children in this context refers to anyone making a big deal out of post count.

14 and under,
and/or people with personality disorders.
Don't derail the topic to my mentioning of post counts though, it's a side note if anything.

Since the average here is from 10-16 i think it would be much worse here. We already saw that when we had the rep system and all the kids cried about their downreps.

If people had the option to rate posts, there would be less posting in general. It's just a bad idea.
