Forum Newsletter

This was an idea that spawned from the Medal Requests thread, so we should discuss it in its own topic now.
The idea of a newsletter was brought up after people were talking about taking over the featuring of graphics and episodes. Feel free to keep going where discussion was left off.

If I got it right so far it was Emral proposing him and Squishy taking care of the featured graphics section and Spinda proposing him, me and zlaker take care of the featured episode section. I guess for now we should collect other ideas as to what else we could include. Xerx said he would like to contribute too, maybe some sort of programming section where stuff like news about PGE and LunaLua is talked about?

Maybe we could also include a section about any event that's going too? Oh and maybe one for the best level posted in one month.

A newsletter would be a nice formal addition to have for users to get a summary of current forum activities. On the proviso that it would actually be read and not just tossed into the abyss of your inbox's junk folder, then sure I'd certainly be all for it. It would be good for continuing the "Featured" episodes and graphics, while leaving the orange box free for another, possibly better application.

Yeah, I support that. I'd like to take a part of that thing. Maybe two levels instead of one bc we have more levels than episodes obviously. If the admins agree, I'll explain my idea later. (maybe just for them at first)

I remember back in the years when that kind of event was inactive on a different forum after a while so I'm not sure if this can be a possible feature for now. It's just my guess since it was inactive after multiple months of producing news relative to the forums so I'm not too sure about that. If we can actually get stuff to work without getting retired then I guess this should be possible to perform.

This. Remember when the current SMBX Wiki was opened? People were hyped for it and when it was available on public, it has died after a few months, because rarely anyone ever edited it.

The thing is this would be more useful than a wiki. Its easier to look through, has more relevant information and is updated frequently. That's not to say I'm not skeptical if this'll actually work or not, as I do feel like people might just stop caring, but I feel it's at least worth a shot.

I was thinking about a topic regarding newsletter suggestions, in which people can give new suggestions for the newsletter (Interviewing someone like the most recent contest's winner, for example, would be a nice touch), but also point us (implying I'm part of the team) into the right direction for quality material.
[Also if this becomes a thing I demand the Suggester medal

I wouldn't mind doing that.

I would probably support this, but I've seen in past smbx history that the forum newsletter never lasted more than two months before it would die out again. Each time.

Ths is a good idea, even though many people wanted this though. I digress. I want to see this in the future, very soon though. I know i cant contribute due to limitations. Anyways, hope to see this later.

Eh, sure it'd be cool to see a newsletter.

I have an idea: why not have the orange box advertize the newsletter, and have it updated for each new newsletter (similar to how it used to be updated to show the new featured Episode/graphic)?
--EDIT--
In other words, the newsletter would be its own webpage (like SMBX's splash page) instead of a PM.

Maybe make it a PM that is available for subscription via a group?

The newsletter will be available on the wiki, similar to MarioWiki's
The 'Shroom. This is because the wiki offers the closest thing to HTML-based page creation.

When can we expect this magical newsletter?

I think everything is still on planning at this point. Right now we gotta wait until it happens.

I think that's a great idea. HTML based page creation opens up a lot more ability to make our newsletter look like a newsletter.
