Interesting mechanic idea

One platform. One layer, called "elevator." Three events (slow speed, medium speed, high speed). Three axes constantly warp-generating. Three On Death triggers- one slow, one medium, one fast. Voila, you have a elevator that the player can control the speed of! And since the axes regenerate, the speed can be changed multiple times. Whaddya think?

And how do you prevent the elevator from crashing through the roof?

Let me ask that in a different way, actually.
How do you know where the elevator stops? (If the player jumps into activation axes for the elevator stop command, it will stop lower than you want).

The elevator doesn't stop. It just goes up until you reach a door or something. You can change the speed but not stop it. However, a fourth axe could stop it, if you really wanted.

And then it goes right past it.

By that point the player will have walked through the door and be in a different section, so it'd still work.

This would only work once, but you could put a Goomba on top of the elevator, and have a ceiling where the door is. Once the Goomba is squished by the ceiling, the axes disappear and the elevator has stopped right at the door.

Imagine the scenario: The player just accellerated to "fastest", and the door suddenly falls through the ceiling, at the other end of the elevator. The player is too slow to reach it.

Or this one: bossedit plays the level and tries to exploit it in every possible way.

Well, that would be part of the challenge, right? And bossedit... well, we all exploit things, it's ok. :)
