Hello,

so with the big amount of Episodes/Worlds for SMBX out there, it's kind of hard to decide which one to play next
My question is, is there a consensus among the SMBX forums which episode(s) are best, or at least generally agreed on as outstandingly good?

I personally prefer longer episodes (at least 40 levels) to stuff like The Princess Cliche with very few levels
And I prefer less RPG-like episodes, although a bit of RPG influence is fine of course

Luigi's Fight for the Mushroom Kingdom [reghrhre]
Valtteri Island Revisited, Mushroom Robbers Revisited, Return to Dinosaur Land [Valtteri]
Super Mario Eternal Chaos [Ace, Elbow]
All of the Tower of Biased episodes [Community]

Also Super Mario Legends is pretty cool.

My personal favorite is Mario Classic. I like how there are lots of levels that are all short, gimmicky, and fun. Other episodes that are also really good are Super Mario Star Expedition and The New Great Castle Adventure. There are plenty other good ones, but those are the three that come to mind first.

I would personally say that The Invasion is the best SMBX episode of all time, and the most famous. The reason being is because it was the one that started it all, and it set the standards for classic level design back when SMBX was still in it infancy. No fancy gimmicks or anything, just straight-up Mario-styled gameplay.

Seriously though. Invasion 1 sucks, even compared to TI2, which is only good in showing the basics of what SMBX can do.

Well, thanks for the compliment. I'll admit this is partly because of nostalgia, but me saying TI is the best SMBX episode of all time is like saying Super Mario Bros. is the best game of all time, which in my opinion is because it revived the video game industry. TI, on the other hand, started a community, a community which still stands now.

In my opinion, Mario Classic, although it is actually good, is overrated. It starts out promising but it gets boring after a while.

Well I say TI and TI2, Super Mario Enigmatic and LFFTMK are the best episodes.
