How do I use the IRC?

I'm not sure if this is the correct section to ask this. Move this topic if the Sandbox is the wrong place, please.

How do I use the IRC? I click on "Chat" and I'm asked for a StarNet IRC nickname and some other stuff. What is it and how do I use it?

You can type in any name you want there.
I'm not sure if #smbx is still set to registered only (spam attacks bla bla), but if so, you need to register your nickname:

/ns register *e-mail* *password*
^^ will register your current username

/ns identify *password* when using said username will log you in if you're not logged in already.

The button below the username field just asks you whether or not you want to automatically login.

Also, /ns identify <password> will identify you when you are using your name but you haven't logged in your account (this command will also make you login automatically).
By the way, it's better to use a client (for example hexchat or chatzilla) so you don't always have to type your password when joining starnet.

All you have to enter is a nickname - this is your display name for the chat. After that, it will connect you to the IRC network and you'll automatically join the SMBX room (#smbx).

Is there actually any way to get unbanned?

It should be about 15 minutes long if I'm not mistaken. Or Jason or Joey will see that and unban you. Whichever comes first.
