Rathanael remembered how to handle bombs in training. Throw or shoot something at them to cancel out the attack. Now if this could only work against raccoon tails, he thought. Rathanael pulled out his boomerang and sent it hurdling towards the bomb.

Muyoko finally saw Toadsworth for once showing up to try to get her majesty to safety. She scoffed at his efforts. Old man's diligent. I wish his majesty had such loyal and hard working guards. It took some time for Muyoko to close her eyes for a bit. Yes, they were walking, but Muyoko always had that main issue of sleeping.

"Muyoko, watch out!"

Muyoko heard this from Mario of all people after she almost dozed off. Now alert, Muyoko saw Rathanael bring out his boomerang. Even so, she didn't know the physics between that boomerang and the bomb before she was hit. All she wanted to do was dodge.

Muyoko jumped at a higher rate than what she was used to.

"W-what the?!" She gasped.

That's when she remembered her training. Ah yes. The training all of Mushroom Kingdom's loyal subjects had to help them in case they had such dangerous encounters with the troops. Even so, she didn't think they would be useful for this mission.

Bill's ready to fail at this!

Near Toad Town, a Shy Guy walked out of his house holding a piece of toast in one hand and he was adjusting his mask with the other.
"What's all the noise about?" he asked, but caught a glimpse of the group.
"Oh no, the meeting started! I'M LATE!" he exclaimed, jamming the toast in his mouth and running. He made it to the group where he blended in nicely, when a bomb barely scraped the side of his head. The Shy Guy started to look for Mario and found him. He introduced himself as Bill and went to deal with the situation at hand, but broke into a run and accidentally bumped into a Beanish person.
"Sorry," he said, jumping to his feet and running when he bumped into someone else. He was about to yell at them for being in his way when he looked up and saw that he had bumped into a formidable-looking Whomp.
"Sorry!" he said, again. What use was he going to be if all he was going to do was bump into people? He turned and headed to his house, wishing he was there, when a bomb plopped into his hands. He let out a yelp of surprise.

Tess looked at Lee as he told his story, a frown slowly crossing her features. Unworthy for getting separated from the rest of his group? Sheesh, what kind of messed-up system did Bowser have going for his army? Then again, Tess wasn't surprised, given the Koopa King's track record. She closed her eyes for a few seconds after he'd finished. "As long as you're on our side and stay there, we won't have any problems." She opened her eyes and raised one corner of her mouth in a smirk. "Sound good? Name's Tess T., by the way. Just Tess'll work."

"Why would someone name their son 'Wart'?" the Duplighost asked.

Tess laughed. "Maybe he's just that ugly!" Part of her felt bad for insulting him without having even met the guy, but it was Wart, for Peach's sake. He deserved it.

That frown returned when she heard Lee explain more about what had happened. Yep, Bowser's policies were really messed up. She'd have to spare a few good punches and kicks for him if she ever had the "honor" of meeting him face to face.

Mario suddenly spoke up and announced that they were continuing with the plan. Huh, he hadn't even addressed the Dry Bones's concern about whether or not this was a good plan. Maybe those rumors about Mario being a sociopath had something to them, after all...

"I really hope we can settle this peacefully," Luigi said. Tess just scoffed. There was no way Wart's army would go down without some sort of fight.

The moment Tess heard that Toad Town was under attack, she felt her entire body uncoil like a spring. She barely registered the thought that Peach had said that she was coming along—if she had been thinking properly, she would have thought about how she would have loved to see how Peach fought. It would either be hilarious or surprisingly awesome. But as the group rushed towards Toad Town, all Tess could think about was stopping those monsters from destroying her home.

Her eyes widened when she saw just how bad it was. The town's innocent citizens were running away and hiding from bombs, eggs, and the town's structures that had been set ablaze. Tess clenched her fist and grit her teeth. These two... These two would pay for what they were doing! And so would Wart for sending them here!

"Muyoko, watch out!"

Tess had just realized that Muyoko was the Beanish girl when she saw the Boomerang Bro—Rathanael—throw his boomerang at the oncoming bomb. Good thinking on his part, but her joy was short-lived, for Mouser threw another bomb that landed in the hands of a Shy Guy. Wait, where had he come from? No, no time to think about that! The Shy Guy was at the perfect angle for Tess to run up and shout "Heads up!" as she aimed to kick the bomb out of the his hands. If she was lucky, it would fly towards their enemies, but more than anything, she wanted to keep it from blowing up in their faces.

Muyoko felt a Shy-Guy bump into her as she landed, making her fall back down a bit painful.

Before she can address the Shy-Guy however, another bomb landed in his hands.

This moment felt fast for Muyoko, as she was losing track on what was happening. All at once Muyoko was trying to plan a way for her to stop the Mousers from attacking her. First, she had to punch a bomb back on a Mouser, watching it blow up in its face before turning back to see Tess kick the bomb out of his hands.

Muyoko ducked, thinking it would go near her direction.

If Bowser were here, then I would be in big trouble. she thought to herself as she saw one of her drawings fly out of her bag.

"Ohhh no!!" Muyoko said after recognizing it was his majesty, Prince Peasley's picture. She drew it in Peach's palace and what made it special was the fact her majesty herself helped her color it in. She was watching it fly near the Mousers.

She ran in that direction in hopes of retrieving it.

Rathanael couldn't help but look at how awkward this situation looked overall. Within the last minute he'd seen the toadette kick a bomb out of a shy guy's hand and Muyoko chase after stuff that had fallen out of her bag. Mouser was causing chaos in his ranks. He decided he'd approach Mouser head on before anyone else could get hurt. He pulled out a second bookerang and marched towards Mouser to avenge this town.

Then he heard a scream to his right. There was a young toad trapped in a burning building! He shouted for assistance and ran towards the toad house. As he jogged over, he tripped and fell over something. He looked to see and - it was a bomb! Man I hate Mouser! Rathanael thought as he scrambled away. This innocent toad was priority over Mouser.

Bill turned around to find the Toad he had seen earlier kicking the bomb out of his hands. The bomb landed somewhere near Mouser. Bill felt relieved but instantly retracted this feeling when he saw the Beanish person he had bumped into earlier chasing a paper near Mouser.

"STOP!" Bill cried to the Beanish person, swiftly grabbing the paper and pushing the Beanish person away from Mouser. He felt a bomb bounce off of the back of his head. He handed the Beanish person the paper and told her to run. He turned and kicked the bomb over to Mouser. It blew up and Mouser got aggravated.

"Well, I'm done," he said, raising his arms in the air. He headed back to his house, only to be stopped by Mouser, who had jumped in front of him.

"Say goodnight, traitor!" Mouser said in a raspy voice. Bill suddenly realised what Mouser meant by "traitor"- he was a Shy Guy, and Shy Guys are part of the 8 Bits. He never had any connection to Wart's team. He grabbed the bomb Mouser was holding and threw it at him, exploding in Mouser's face.

Muyoko was pushed away by Bill who had slammed her picture onto her.

Muyoko looked at her picture. Good news is, it's not on fire. Her craft however would be duly noted to have been bad however because of how crumpled it looked.

"Awww man... I have to take better care of my stuff..." she said noticing that she almost walked into yet another bomb.

It took Muyoko some time before she recognized that Rathanael was going in to save a young Toad in a burning building.

"Those mice are ruining everything!" she said as she decided to help Rathanael out. After all, she had to help someone. She can't be standing there like an idiot and watch everything around her die.

What do I do??! Doobel asked himself as he ran around dodging bombs. He almost tripped when a shy guy ran into him, whose name was apparently Bill. Maybe he had a transformation that could help him.. Only then he noticed the Shy guy was being attacked by Mouser! Doobel was so scared at this point, his brain wasn't working properly. So he did the only thing he could think of. He ran over there and slammed his lantern into mousers head. He didn't look back to see if it had any effect, but he hoped he had at least caused a bit of damage. The shy guy. Where did he go? Whew, he was alright.

Bill heard a slamming noise. He turned and saw a Duplighost slamming its lantern into Mouser's head in the hopes of rescuing him. Bill went over and thanked the Duplighost who told him that his name was Doobel. Bill introduced himself and went over to try dealing with the Triclyde instead of the Mouser. Triclyde hissed at Bill and tried to spit some fire at him, but he dodged and noticed a Boomerang Bro that he had seen earlier. The Boomerang Bro seemed to be trying to rescue someone in a burning building. Bill grabbed a nearby rock and threw it at the Triclyde, stunning it for a bit. He used this short timeframe to run over to the Boomerang Bro and tap him on the shoulder.

"Hey, can I help?" Bill asked. "I need a change of scenery."

Prism's here.

A lone Fire Bro stood at the gates of Toad Town. "Gods, they've already gotten into a fight without me..." He quietly muttered, frowning. "I won't be giving the best first impression, but it'll have to do..."

The Fire Bro tightened his gloves and adjusted his helmet; choosing then as the perfect time to approach and simply observe his allies and foes. Regardless of his plans, however, he prepared himself for battle in case he acquired any unwanted attention - which would be rather likely, as he was standing in plain sight.

After Lee told his story, he saw the Toad frown. Even though it wasn't really a story necessary to be told, it still felt good just telling his story. While he was still thinking about it, the Toad replied. "As long as you're on our side and stay there, we won't have any problems." Well, a job is a job and a client is a client, so he doubted that he'd change sides. After smirking a bit she added "Sound good? Name's Tess T., by the way. Just Tess'll work."

He then realised he hasn't really paid much attention to their plans, but they probably got overthrown just then anyway: Toad Town was under attack! He still remembered that town, he met a fair share of clients there and even passed through it on the way to this very meeting place. It was a peaceful town for the most part, and so it was immediately obvious that the town's guards would have a hard time defending it on their own. Well, good thing he and the others were right here.
He also heard that apparently the attackers were Triclyde and Mouser, however he didn't have time to ask who they were. But he'd probably find out soon enough.

As they got to Toad Town, he saw mass destruction. A mouse-like character who probably was Mouser was throwing explosives all over the town and a three-headed snake who he was guessing was Triclyde was spewing fire everywhere. Only a few houses weren't destroyed yet, and it really wasn't pleasant to look at. Just as they arrived, Mouser threw a bomb in the direction of the Beanish, and upon Mario warning her he learned her name was Muyoko. He really wondered how she couldn't have seen that coming, but she was probably daydreaming or something. Not exactly the greatest warrior ever.
Luckily for her, Rathanael quickly threw a boomerang at the bomb. Having worked with Boomerang Bros. in his past both in Bowser's army and as a bounty hunter, he knew exactly what he was trying to do. Thankfully, Muyoko also jumped away so the boomerang managed to hit the bomb, sending it back at Mouser. Good to see some of his allies were actually decent fighters.

While he was still observing the battlefield to find a way to break through the rain of bombs, he realised a green Shy Guy with some weird device around his neck walking towards the group, but apparently he was part of the group. Although he wondered how a Shy Guy could actually help them out, seeing how clumsy he was, any help was still better than no help at all.
Hopefully.
But just then a bomb flew right into the Shy Guy's hands, and by his baffled reaction he quickly regretted that thought. How many of those would actually prove helpful in a fight?, he thought to himself. Luckily Tess was able to prove her ability to think in the heat of battle by kicking the bomb out of the Shy Guy's hands.
Hmm, he thought, I should probably also try to help. Because of the he figured he'd head over to do something about Triclyde, who was setting the town ablaze while they were busy handling Mouser. On his way to him he noticed how Muyoko ran over a picture she apparently lost and could only roll his eyes. She certainly hasn't proven to be capable at all so far.
Apparently the Shy Guy and Doobel were attempting to take care of Mouser, so he hoped he wouldn't have to worry about any bombs. He also saw how Rathanael attempted to save a Toad from a burning building, and while he admired his courage to help, it certainly wouldn't help them turn the tide of battle.
However, a sudden sensation of heat quickly threw him out of his thoughts: A fireball scraped his side! Looks like Triclyde noticed him. The fireballs were flying really fast, so he had a hard time dodging all of them, and because of that Lee wasn't able to get any closer to Triclyde, which was unfortunate since he was only really capable at close-up combat, but didn't have any ranged attacks.
He was already about to give up attacking the three-headed Snake when he noticed a Fire Bro. standing near one of the burned-down gates, and by the looks of it he was on their side. He quickly ran over to one of the ruins and hid behind a wall that was still intact. "Hey, you!", he shouted in the Fire Bro.'s direction, and upon him noticing Lee he added "Why don't you help out with fighting this snake guy?"

(hey everyone, I like the detail but we can move on from the house/walking to Toad Town scenes. also, while it was fine in this case, Mouser throwing bombs is an example of something that has to be done by the host rather than the players)

"...Alright. I'll keep him distracted, and you can do your own thing." The Fire Bro responds. "The name's Prism, by the way." And with that said, Prism starts to throw a barrage of fireballs at Triclyde.

The Fire Bro. agreed to help him, and he then learned his name was Prism. He nodded at him with approval. "Okay, thanks. I'm Lee." Good to see another capable fighter joined them.
With the Fire Bro. distracting the snake, Lee could finally get closer to Triclyde. Although one or two of his heads were still throwing fireballs at him, it was way more manageable now that Prism helped him. He definitely knew what he was doing and certainly seemed like a good addition to their team. While dodging fireballs and keeping a safe distance to the snake, he took a closer look at Triclyde to find out any places he could attack. However, Triclyde was moving quite fast for being a snake, especially considering he still had to aim his fireballs. As a result of that, every time it looked like Lee found an opening it was already gone. He let out a short sigh. If only he had undergone the training, he'd certainly know what to do in this situation. But he didn't let self-pity stop him and continued running circles around Triclyde to get him confused. He decided it'd be a good idea to position himself on the opposite site of where the Fire Bro. was standing to make it harder for Triclyde to concentrate on both at a time. And it worked, he quickly found a good way to attack the three-headed snake's back. He then quickly ran towards Triclyde with the spike on his head at the front. If he hit him just right, it'd certainly at least knock the snake out for quite some time, making defending the town hopefully easier.

The village, aptly named Toad Town, quickly devolved into chaos upon their arrival. That said, it wasn't a particularly picturesque scene beforehand. Townsfolk scrambled to hide behind whatever wasn't ablaze, bombs and fireballs streaked the sky, and everything was generally unpleasant. The group arrived without the element of surprise, the bomb hurling Mouser attacking immediately upon noticing them. Various parties broke off from the main group to either attack the enemy or defend the fleeing residents. Though their basic strategy was sound, save the town, tactics were thrown aside in favor of each person doing whatever they thought was best. Pleo sighed, observing the battle from the back lines. He was brittle and lacked hand to hand skills, so this was where he belonged for the most part. As it was, he wasn't sure if they were saving the town or destroying it further, haphazardly kicking caught bombs to heavens knows where and chasing lost paper scraps, bless Muyoko. Pleo's first objective was damage control, as the rest of the people seemed to have the fight on their minds. Raising his left hand high, index finger extended, the sapphire ring began to glow with magic as he swirled his arm in circles. Compact rain clouds began to coalesce over the most prominent blazes, showering them with water and hopefully causing them to die out. For the moment Pleo focused on moving the rain clouds to where they needed to be, perhaps fizzling a few fuses and canceling some of the fireballs were he fast enough.

Prism noticed the rain clouds forming from of the corner of his eye. Without looking away from his foe, he simply yells, "Whoever's making it rain, keep it away from this area! I can't use my full strength in weather like that!" Hoping the perpetrator heard him, he looks towards Lee.

"Keep on him! I've got your back!" The warrior yelled before slowly approaching Triclyde and keeping him pressured.

"Blegh, rain." Doobel said. He didn't like rain. It extinguished Triclyde's fireballs, though. "Nice thinking, Pleo." He said, admiring the Dry Bones' magic abilities. He then ran towards Triclyde, furiously swinging his lantern. He managed to hit him a few times before he quickly dashed back. "Keep going guys!" , he shouted, before backing off.

While Lee was charging at Triclyde, he noticed that it seemed to be suddenly raining, but he didn't pay it much attention, he had more important things to concentrate on. He rammed his head into the snake's body, but it didn't have the desired effect and only knocked it back a bit. Looks lile he was a bit out of practice. The Triclyde managed to recover almost immediately, and Lee had to head back to avoid the snake's fireballs. But that was when he realised that the sudden rain had a positive effect: It weakened the fireballs getting fired at him. However, he figured that since Prism would also be affected by the weather change he shouldn't call it a victory just yet.
Just as Lee found another place to charge at, he realised the Duplighost charging at Triclyde, and by sheer lucked he managed not to get burned. What followed was probably the most unorthodox way to attack, it being hitting the snake on its head. But surprisingly, it seemed to have quite the impact on Triclyde and it seemed like he'd gotten a bit dizzy since his aim was now a lot worse. He then told them to keep going. Well, nothing new here. Even though he was wondering how there could be such a big bounty on the head of someone like him, he replied with "Yeah, that's what I planned on doing. By the way, thanks."
Now that Lee knew of what seemed to be Triclyde's weak point, he decided to change his strategy up a bit. Instead of just ramming the spike on his head into the snake's body, he planned on aiming it towards one of his heads. After finding another opening, he did just that, hoping to finally knock the three-headed snake out for good.

Muyoko saw rain begin to pour down on her. She was looking for Rathanael and the Toad in the burning house.

"Rathanael! Is that your name?" she bellowed within the house. She began coughing.

Being part plant sure sucks when you're in a burning building. It was stupid to go in there when you can burst into flames immediately by touch, but seeing Muyoko was just trying to help, she thought she may as well.

She heard some whimpering.

Her word, there was another Toad child, a little girl, in the house, hiding underneath the table.

"Hey little buddy..." Muyoko said as she showed her hand to her.

The girl was scared of her at first, no big surprise because the Beanish are just as a minority if not even more so in the Mushroom Kingdom than Toads were in the Beanbean Kingdom. But knowing of the events, she grabbed Muyoko's hand and Muyoko was able to carry her out. This feels like some heroic deed that his majesty would have done. Oh man... I'm so stoked!

Muyoko carried the girl outside of the burning house. She was wondering where her parents were, but in due time she found an area safe from the bombings.

"Don't worry. Another friend of mine is going to help you find your brother. Call for help if I don't get out without them by the time everything is solved. Otherwise, stay here, okay?" Muyoko asked the child.

She nodded, and just sat back down whimpering. Muyoko went back into the house to search for Rathanael and the Toad. While it did start taking long for her to do this, and she was having to dodge every obstacle that gets in her path that could get her killed, she did know that eventually she would find them, even if it meant she would start to singe.
