Emerald Relic Jungle

Postby GameClip477 » Sat Jun 06, 2015 4:48 pm

Hello everyone, I introduce to you a new level which is based on my CC8 level, Emerald Ruins. I decided should improve that level by fresh starting a new level. There's also a star secret too.
Welp, feel free to criticize and I hope you enjoy this level!! :D

i like this level
Judging for the screens, the design looks decent and nice, the GFX was cool.
but SMB2 enemies should be recolored to SMB3 and it looks better.
and happy birthday GameClip477!

I don't see the problem. just because the GFX styles aren't the same doesn't mean they clash.

Am I missing something or does this zip literally have everything that has to do with the level... except for the level itself?

Your right. I forgot to add the level file too but, now fixed the link. There should be a level file inside the download link.

Emerald Relic Jungle review

Design & Gameplay: 7.5/10(counts 70%)
This level has a well executed difficulty, it's not unfair but still challenging a bit. The fun factor is pretty high. The NPC variety is wide, so the level doesn't feel repetitive. You've placed both coins and NPCs well. I like that if the level has some climbing stuff but not in the entire level, because it makes the level different than others. The powerup vs. enemy ratio is a strongpoint in this level too. This level has some replay value too, which is a good thing.
There are some complaints about the level:
1) The bonus room is way too hidden (at least I didn't find a way to get in) I didn't find any key object in the level, so I couldn't enter there. (if it's unlockable with an other level and this level is part of a project, then show me your project)
2) You should make the ponds 1 block deeper, because the player can fall down and die in a weird way. (so 1 blocks bigger vertically and put 1 or 1,5 blocks of water out of screen)

Atmosphere & Visuals: 8/10 (counts 30%)
The level has a good jungle level atmosphere. Graphics aren't clashy, there is a fair amount of BGOs. The music fits the level right, it has enough jungle feeling. I also liked the idea of a rainy section. The ruinous BGOs gave me some South America feeling, which is good. Over-all, this level has good but not perfect atmosphere.

Score: 7.7/10
Moved to "Pretty Good"

Thanks for the review!! I'm sort of planning of making a project but, I don't know when I'll release it.
I'm also just curious of knowing what was not so perfect about the atmosphere?

Well, I said 'good jungle level atmosphere' not great. I don't know why wasn't it great but it didn't feel awesome just simply great. It's still a nice level. Maybe I should seperate the great from the good to make the scores more understandable.
