I actually plan on making a Metroid level at some point. But yeah, few people use those styles.
Edit: now we are going offtopic.

SMW had just the four.
I mean sure, we COULD just clone the four current colors, modify the RGB values and have ourselves a sexy rainbow (which would be more than fine by me), but what would the point be other than to show your support and/or alliance with the LGBT community?
On second thought...
That's a brilliant idea; the LGBT community is the current driving force of change, after all...(glad to be a part of it)
As much as I want more Zelda and Metroid enemies (and other NPCs), it makes total sense to do SMB1,2,3 and World first.
Oh, but I'd love to have Zelda 2 Iron Knuckles in SMBX. Enemies that have high and low melee attacks and can block high and low, would be fun to fight them. Imagine Crocomire that you throw vegetables into his mouth to push him back...(you know what, maybe I'll just make Crocomire from Wart, lol) I actually have a Metroid Episode in mind, but it would be more like a weird SMB1 parody (I mentioned it previously in this thread, each castle has Mother Brain at the end and different colored Rinkas) Which I'll probably start if we don't get Frog Suit soon...(I hope I'm not being annoying constantly bringing up the Frogsuit...my username should have been Frog Vivian, not Dr. Vivian.)
I also would like more Switch blocks. I was thinking maybe having an Episode with P-Switch Palaces but have like 8 or so Switch Blocks, and like SMW would have power-ups in them, BUT all of them would have Power-Ups! (I still wish Red Switch Blocks in SMW gave you Fire Flowers) Like Black Switch blocks would contain Hammer Bros. suits (but of course be pretty rare) I could understand why most people wouldn't use them as their regular use would be cluttered with too many different colors, but I think it could be fun.

Yeah, SMW-esque switch blocks would be nice to have. Though, currently they're very possible to do with a bit of lua, and in fact the way of doing them is a nice learning exercise for lunaworld and the Data class.
So regarding the switch block stuff, maybe there could just be one new set of blocks/NPCs that use the contained NPC ID as a color index? Then you could just define the graphics for each color in the episode directory as like, switchblock-1.png, switchblock-9.png, etcetera.
I haven't looked into the snake blocks to see how they work yet, but if they can have unique per-instance graphics I imagine what I'm suggesting would be possible as well.

Or just copy the image files and edit the colors with a NON-MSPAINT program like GIMP (transparency a must!)...

Or if you want more colors than what we already have, then you can edit certain blocks and use events and layers.
Flying Hammer Brothers
Ball n Chain
Reznor
Boo Buddy Swarm and disappearing boo buddy swarm (many boo's disappearing and reappearing on the screen)
Chainsaw
Climbing Koopa
Falling Spike
Big Bubble
Fishing Boo
Fishing Lakitu
Floating Mine
Hothead
Lil Sparky
Jumping Piranha Plant (I saw the jumping fire piranha plant but I thought this was a different one)
Muncher
Para Bomb
ParaGoomba
Mega Mole
Skewer (large spike that moves down and up)
Porcu Puffer
Spike (They come down from the ceiling or up from the floor. Most don't retract all the way, leaving their point exposed.)
Skull Box
Super Koopa (Some have the red cape that gives you a feather)
Urchin
Zigzag lava bubble (found in the air, they bounce off walls)
THe Big Boo boss (he can disappear and reappear)
Oh and these for SMB2
Albatross, Beezo, Autobomb, Hoopster, Ostro, Pidgit, and Snifit.
Fryguy boss and all 4 versions of Birdo.
I know you are not focusing on DKC at the moment but if you do decide to do some here are a few must haves.
Croctopus (moves in patterns around blocks and can chase you underwater)
Mini Necky, Necky, Flitter and all 4 versions of Zinger (great air baddies)
Barrel Blast (barrels that you shoot out of)
More Air and Water enemies are always nice to have

Sledge Bro's and Boomerang Bros and Hammer Bros (I saw fire bro in list already)
Spiny Cheep Cheeps (Swims faster)
Blooper Nanny (shoots out baby bloopers)
Big Bertha and Boss Bass
Missile Bill (locks on to Mario and if it passes him will turn around)
Angry Sun
Chain Chomps
Fire Snake
Fire Chomp
I think the Rocket Engine is already in SMBX. If some of these have already been added I apologize.
If you already have any I listed I apologize. You guys are doing great work.
Not only are a large number of these on the sheet already, but a singnificant amount of them were already doable in Beta 3 or even SMBX 1.3.
You got some of the enmies wrong though...
Munchers are blocks both in SMW and SMBX.
Skewers are Blocks in SMW and controlled by a Layer 2 movement object. We're adding the Mario Maker variant.
The Torpedo Ted box is also just a block.
Not to mention Mega Mole and Jumping Piranha Plant are in SMBX since 2011...
As for the others, I'm sure they'll find their way in the game sooner or later. Maybe not in the form you proposed, though, as Parachute enemies will be handled by a parachute container object.

Thanks for letting me know. It's always nice to have more air and water enemies but i'm happy with the ones you guys are adding in.
I looked at the sheet and did not notice most of the enemies I posted on here but I see some are already in SMBX. I'm sure I got some wrong so thanks for the correction. Anyways thanks for making SMBX better.
