Hey, I got in 7th! That's a great placement that I can accept! Also, If Camacho wins with a vanilla level, I will break something I haven't already. I hope nat wins so we can have another person who won a contest.

It's not that simple.
It's free promotion and people who find out about him will check out other stuff he made. This wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't (obviously) infamous for his (maybe outdated) style.
I'm not saying his level doesn't deserve to potentially win the contest. I'm sure there are reasons (I haven't played or seen the level) and I believe Camacho is capable of winning a contest.
However I am saying that this would lead to people who aren't involved in the community being more likely to be inspired by and find his old stuff which is generally frowned upon. This, in turn, will likely make future contests unappealing due to a lot of incredibly mediocre/meh levels which are trying to copy the style.

Wait, didn't marina say ShadowStarX reviewed 2 levels? If so, then one of the levels he reviewed is one of the top 3!
(somehow, that makes him wishing me luck seem a lot less coincidental)
