Well, let's wait and see how Danny will do as a GM
I should have specified myself a bit better. He wasn't a Terrible host like I said before (I tend to be a bit harsh with words). I just don't the he was flawless enough to be a game master. The name for the role allready says enough GameMaster.Supershroom wrote:1) Literally how was Danny a bad host at M34, maybe his game turned out to have some flaws afterwards but that sometimes can always happen with games that are not easy to evaluate before you haven't tried them out
2) M36 please
Allright, I can get the analysis thing. But like you said, the main goal of a game master is to make sure games are balanced right? Danny's game was unbalanced as fuck. There was literally no way the murderer could have won unless the town was stupid. The game was 1 mafia, 14 town and a 3rd party that was also pretty much with the town. Sure, it is likely the murderer would have gotten a cohort no matter what happened. But still, counting the 3rd party as a town role too (because in essence it was) that would make it a 2 vs 14. There is no way the Mafia could have won that shit. I basically won the game for the town on my own. The fact that a single player is able to win a game is allready enough proof of a flawed system if you ask me.Supershroom wrote:I assume there was no player analysis mainly due to the quick ending, and there's no need to be perfect with everything (including being a host) for being a good GM. The main thing is judging games (as I've said this can be a hard task if the game is complex or brings new mechanics) and being overall experienced with how the game works, and also doing rule enforcement if necessary in a game.
Except nobody was talking about you and there's no need for you to shove yourself into the conversationDoesntpostverymuch wrote:i'm not very good at making balanced games at all, my first game was terrible and i'm still working on a better one then the stupid one with flour.
Both Pseudo-dino and Spinda approved Danny's game and it won the poll big-time. Obviously everyone thought the Murderer would have a chance given his abilities.witchking666 wrote:
Ok, how is this exactly relevant? You are missing the point of my statement. I am not saying the game never should gave been hosted nor do I think it.Supershroom wrote:Both Pseudo-dino and Spinda approved Danny's game and it won the poll big-time. Just goes to show that sometimes balancing issues can be very hard to spot before it is too late.Supershroom wrote:Both Pseudo-dino and Spinda approved Danny's game and it won the poll big-time. Obviously everyone thought the Murderer would have a chance given his abilities.witchking666 wrote:
Once again you are shamelessly shoving yourself into the conversation.Doesntpostverymuch wrote:I THINK I PLAYED in 'we the paranoid few' for like two seconds.
Thank youZeldamaster12 wrote:Doesntpostverymuch isn't "shoving" himself into the conversation. This is a public forum, and he plays Mafia just like all the rest of you. Basically implying fuck off is not something I'm going to tolerate, so please stop.
I didn't forget to change the phases, I knew I was running late by time I got to changing them, and I even said and apologized for that before. I was pretty busy that time of the year, and I really wasn't anticipating that.witchking666 wrote:And yeah, He did forget to change the phase multiple times during M34 which made it confusing and hard to follow.
I never do a player analysis, I really don't think they're necessary for a postgame thread and I don't like to make other players feel bad for playing bad. That seems kind of blunt, but that's my opinion on player analysis and why I don't do them.witchking666 wrote:And He did have no player analysis, he only made a summary of the game. The player analysis is IMO kind of a neccesary thing if you want a postgame.
I agree that the game was unbalanced, but I was trying out something new and deviating from the norm, and it was approved by several people (not just the gamemasters at the time). The core idea was utilizing the Paranoid Townie/Townie system (a mix of red- and green-colored townies) to make the murderer and his cohort harder to spot. I'm not even sure what happened that game to cause it to go unbalanced like that, but I did say many times that it was experimental.witchking666 wrote:Allright, I can get the analysis thing. The murderer definitely could have won without the town having to have been stupid, I did make sure of that. I guess it was subjective on who played as the Murderer and who his cohort was, I feel there would have been a better chance had his cover not been blown... which I'm still not sure how it did.witchking666 wrote:There was literally no way the murderer could have won unless the town was stupid.
I understand that M34 seemed like a major flop, and I don't want to act holier than thou or egotistical, but have you seen any of the other games I've hosted in the past, other than the most recent one? I don't know how or why it matters, and Pseudo could likely answer your questions about why I was promoted in the first place, I just really don't appreciate being slammed and my capabilities questioned just because one game I hosted turned out to be not the best.witchking666 wrote:Forgive me, but I don't think someone who makes games like that is qualified to judge whether games are balanced or not.
Allright, this is clarifying a lot of shit right here.
