It's still the second best selling game of all time (behind Tetris) so it's not surprising really. I think I own at least 3 different versions right now.
I'll tell ya the MOST scariest thing I ever seen in my entire childhood. But I must warn ya, this memory might cause TRAUMA if you're very young.
In my 1st grade year, I was traumatize and scared for a long time after seeing scenes of Imperfect Cell from Dragon Ball Z absorbing his victims by his tail*.
*My god, please nobody here share a video/gif of this nightmare fuel in this topic.
i get scared of videos that really have nothing too scary to them but are just kind of disturbing and weird. examples would be "there is nothing" and "i feel fantastic" (you can find them both with a quick youtube search, they're sfw afaik but pretty freaky so beware)
"there is nothing" is basically this video with a woman sitting alone in a dining table eyes closed. you can see from the windows that there's a fire. it zooms on the womans face, as the woman opens her eyes and says a bunch of gibberish. after that she goes unconscious. the video then reverses, and the gibberish appears to mean "there is nothing" backwards.
"i feel fantastic" is a video of a female android singing "i feel fantastic" in a bad, robotic voice. yeah, that's it.

I would say thats creepy which does indeed make them seem scary.
Don't ask me why, but I really love the Aero Glass stuff in Win7, with the transparent windows, I love it so much I've also downloaded a homebrew program to make this possible in my pc (it has Win8.1), but also Win10 looks cool
