It's not really more pressure, as it is more ineffectual on our part. What Joey has been saying is there isn't an urgency for staff to be active and it isn't a bad thing if they're inactive when nothing really important is going on that demands the need for active staff. What I've been trying to say is that inactivity among the staff has caused the team to be ineffective in moderating the forum. That's why I mentioned myself putting together lists of bots for Joey (or Quill when he was active at that specific time) to prune, and how it it's not an efficient way of handling the situation. I think I said it back when the forums were being spammed in the summer how "it's like fighting with a half-loaded revolver when you need a machine gun" or something along those lines.

The sad part about this topic is 75% of users posting in this does not give enough of a fuck.
The other 25% gives too much.
Nothing's gonna get done if you take a grievance and be a joker and an asshole about it instead of seriously caring about it. Just saying.
Also, inactive mods =/= you can't be mod. It's not a physical position at an office. We can have as many as we want.

WE INTERRUPT YOUR DAILY LIFE'S WITH BREAKING NEWS
This just in, most of the SMBX staff members don't consider peoples opinions and think theirs is always right; opening their minds to different views and taking things into slight consideration is
NEVER an option for them! Therefore, the users must manage to become convincing enough!
But here's the twist!
No matter how many people agree on an issue and no matter how much time and effort we spend making a solid argument which, in turn, doesn't get taken into consideration, nothing ever gets accomplished because the staff is always right after all!
Can the users of the SMBX community accomplish change? Of course not! That's a dumb question! They should just stop trying because nothing's gonna happen.
We recently interviewed a long time, SMBX user named "reghrhre", asking him about his thoughts of the community, here's his interview:
"I feel the community has a bright future because the userbase and the staff work together so well! The cooperation between both companies is simply, outstanding AND breathtaking! Looking forward to what has to come! They'll make it big!"
Stay tuned for the next edition of SMBX news. So pretty much, this is the first and last article since nothing new is gonna happen.

It's kind of our house, you know. We don't exactly make it any big secret that we tend to decide how this forum goes amongst the staff, not the community as a whole.
Is there a problem with this? If so, explain why.

In regards to the question on inactivity, TBH most of what the SMBx community goes through on a daily/weekly basis does not need a large amount of moderation. It would be ideal that moderators would be willing to participate within the community, but there's not a lot for four moderators and three admins to do on this site.
This community is fairly automated, not needing a lot of moderation or baby sitting, apart from the occasional Chinese spambot, like Joey mentioned earlier
If the community were to experience some crisis or whatever that would require more of a time commitment from moderators, then inactivity should be a concern, but otherwise, not every moderator needs to be really active when there's not a lot of moderation to be done here.

P much.
I may not have time to moderate this forum on a day-to-day basis, but plenty of people can contact me beyond here. I can set time aside to deal with greater issues, but I can't devote time to babysitting.

We got spammed again.
Both topics have been reported.
But there's no staff online to deal with them.

Don't worry, that's not something the staff has to be immediately concerned over, it's not like some of the spam posts have recently been posting porn and malware-infested websites. We don't need active staff for that.

Yeah, you definitely helped us out by reporting those posts instead of coming to this thread to passive-aggressively complain about them.
In the same vein, everyone,
don't use this thread to report spam posts. Use the actual report button and the staff will get to it as soon as we can.

It's kind of hard to report posts when they've already been reported, eh?

the problem is that often times these bot posts can take upwards of an hour+ to get deleted, regardless of whether or not it's reported.

If it's an invasive spam topic (porn etc.) then I can understand, but:
Joey wrote:That's a good point. However, if you think about it, most spam topics (while really annoying) are relatively harmless and formulaic. What you (all users) need to do is report it and then ignore it. If it's really invasive then this would be different, but it's just one bot posting a topic written in Chinese. Just ignore it until it's dealt with; it shouldn't be such a bother.

seems to be the procedures everyone has to take in this forum summed up in 3 words
"Just ignore it"

Can you contribute something meaningful instead of making a generalization, please?

Can you actually respond to questions (decently) instead of fighting fire with fire?
