I'm more talking about would Ridley even comfortably fit on a stage.

"He's too big" actually became an internet meme during Brawl's development. You are definitely not the first person to think of this. Like Emral said, characters' sizes change to fit Smash. Olimar is supposed to be the size of a quarter, Kirby is 8 inches tall (mentioned in his Melee trophy, even, but he's bigger during actual matches), and Bowser is usually arbitrarily larger than he appears in Smash. He would just be scaled down a bit for this game and everything would be fine.

Little Mac is going to be OP as hell. They better nerf him. But who knows? Maybe he's going to be hard to play as.

What are your thoughts on Little Mac?

THIS. SO MUCH THIS. I hate these people that say Ridley is "too big". This just sounds retarded. This youtube channel here has lots of good videos about Ridley: http://www.youtube.com/user/FeliciaFan444

I don't think he's gonna be OP. All trailers make the main character in them look OP. Little Mac, like Sakurai said, is the worst character ever in the air, and is recovery is just terrible. I'd also expect him to be really light based in his height. Combine all of that and you have the easiest character to K.O., even Jigglypuff, a character that is really light, has amazing recovery, but Little Mac is light AND has a terrible recovery.

If the K.O. Uppercut is the reason you think he's gonna be OP, don't worry. It has very short range. Also, it is one-shot only, so even if Little Mac misses, he can't use it again during the whole match.

My thoughts? Counter him using Charizard. First off, like Tepig, Sakurai and many others said, he's shit while in the air. Charizard will most likely still have flight and the rock smash ability. He also has flame charge which makes him charge to the side. It'll be easy to evade Little Mac using him and strike when the time is right.

I wonder how K.O. Uppercut will interact with Fire Emblem Characters' counter abilities, though.

Well according to some rumors there's gonna be 9 more characters coming by: Ganondorf, MetaKnight, Jigglypuff, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, Captain Falcon, Ness, Falco, and Chrom (from Fire Emblem Awakening) and it's looks like the game is gonna be (Wii U) $59.99 and (3DS) $39.99. That's good news for me also the tripping mechanic has been removed. Not bad, eh?

I have heard much about Chrom, and its not unlikely being that Fire Emblem has always had two representatives.

I get that Ridley's size is a non-argument, but what about his proportions? How do you balance his size and his reach against other players while making him NOT look awkwardly diminuitive and skinny in the process?

Gameplay will always be more important than inclusion.

I think you're joking but just in case you aren't, jumping and pound (side B) worked pretty well for me.

That word reflects more on the person using it than the person who was born with it and had no choice in having it.
How about foolish? Or ill-considered? Those are words that actually have the meaning you intend to convey.

It's the natural instincts which tell me that up + b gets me saved from falling off the stage with no more jumps left, as it works with every other character.
I'll try pounding next time I play jigglypuff.

Just search "Ridley size comparison" in Google. There are some cool ones.

As a guy who mains Jiggs in Melee, I can confirm that her recovery is incredibly excellent. Her five jumps, which each gain her a lot of height, staggered with multiple pounds let her recover from virtually anywhere as long as the hit itself doesn't kill her.

To Maruiki, basically what other people said about Little Mac. He's incredibly fast and efficient on the ground, but in the air (i.e. that place you end up when hit by attacks) he's really weak. He also has a really bad recovery, although his up B appears to be fairly powerful, which will at least give him some kind of aerial finisher.

To Emral, the Fire Emblem guys' counterattacks only counter the damage, not the knockback, so the counter hit for Mac's uppercut might be nearly a one-hit kill, but not to the same degree as Mac's punch (although the counter will be stronger in terms of damage).

To Tepig, I'm pretty sure you can recharge Mac's power meter after using the uppercut, so you could use the uppercut again if you filled the meter again. It's not a once-per-match thing as far as I know.

I remember Sakurai saying "one-shot only" but I might be mistaken.

When he says one shot only he meant like once you do it the bar goes back down, hit or miss.

I'm fairly certain that Blueoak is correct. I'd be very surprised if it was truly one use per match.

Hey guys, a guy at a Smash Bros. forum made a size comparison of how big Ridley should be in Smash 4 compared to Rosalina and Bowser. Sorry for the big picture, I don't know how to put things in a spoiler:

Yeah, that seems pretty realistic, Tepig. Where did you get those models? They look nice.

No hopes of Ridley being confirmed as a playable now, he was shown to be a boss in Pyrosphere.

That's not true.
He has been shown on the pyrosphere stage during the "Boss Character" section of the Nintendo Direct.
