Yes, those NPC's are working with everything (like Death event and Attach to Layer too, etc.).

Lol, I asked about inverted process.
Can I attach them to any other NPC as a part of attached layer?

If it's possible to do with any other NPC, then I think yes.
FanofSMU, those NPC's won't move if they will be in Egg, Bubble or Grass (Buried), but they will be able to move, if Lakitu will throw them.

AND NPC DOES HURT YOU, IF YOU DIDN'T KNEW THIS SOMEHOW.

Edit 05.06.2014:
Just tested this NPC with Notepad codes, NPC works with them too. Also "nohammer=0" doesn't working to this NPC, that means this code is fake for real.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR MY "NPC's" MISTAKE. IT'S "NPCs".

NPC-0

Double post, yay.

I finally found a way on how to get an NPC-0.
So all you need to do, is to place an empty Herb in a level:

Then grab it:

And vuala, you got it!

As a proof, after that small experiment, I decided to test this NPC with LunaDLL. Here's the code I used:
NPCMemSet,0,0xE2,1,0,0,w
It will change NPC-0 to NPC-1 (to SMB3 Goomba).

And here's the result, after I grabbed it, even with the custom graphics, it's empty (invisible), but when I kicked it, Mario stomped it immediately and its effect was seen (if I remember correctly):

So um, yeah. Maybe I will test it with Koopa Troopa and some other NPCs too, later.

Did you ever try attaching it to a layer or Parakoopa?

Not yet. Not sure if that is even possible.

Wow, I missed the discussion of the dummy NPC earlier and I just have to say that it's amazing that we're still discovering things about this game. Congratulations, h2643. I wonder if it would be possible to utilize those NPCs in actual levels in some way?

If you put lava tiles on invisible, they won't kill the player.

The red coin turns into the SMB3 red block under the effects of a POW switch, and vice versa. I'm pretty sure that's what those two were intended to be used for (along with red coin hunts) before custom graphics existed.

If Wohlstand will include those NPCs in his engine, then yes, it will be possible. For now, it is possible to include those NPCs in levels only with LunaDLL and edit through the text files their properties.
Pseudo-dino wrote:Wow, I missed the discussion of the dummy NPC earlier and I just have to say that it's amazing that we're still discovering things about this game.
There's 8 dummy NPCs, or more like unused - NPC-293, NPC-294, NPC-295, NPC-296, NPC-297, NPC-298, NPC-299 and NPC-300. There's also NPC-0, but it isn't unused. Too bad almost all of them have same behaviours. It would be interesting, if they had different properties...
Well, it's still possible to change them in text files, like I said above.

----------

So, I found something again.

Even if you will hold NPC-0, it won't defeat itself and the NPC near it:
Spoiler: show
Image
You can't select the NPC (atleast I wasn't able to do that).
If you will place NPC-0 in the level (with help of LunaDLL), it will just dissappear.

Here's an interesting thing. If you will hold NPC-0 and, if it will touch NPC-237 (Yoshi's Ice Block), it will defeat this NPC, but it won't kill itself:
Spoiler: show
Image
FanofSMU, it can be attached to objects and objects can be attached to it. But it will change nothing, since it will dissappear immediately.

----------

Accidently, when I was playing somebody's level, I discovered that...
Link can Spin-jump!

All you have to do, is to place a Link Player Block above the NPC, that can be spin-jumped on (Spiny, Piranha Plant, etc.). Then spin-jump into the Link block. And when you will land on the NPC while Spin-jumping, it won't hurt you and you will continue Spin-jumping on it:
Spoiler: show
Image
You also can still attack while spin-jumping:
Spoiler: show
Image
While Spin-jumping, Link will be always faced left and if you will turn him right, he will be turned automatically left again (here I mean his frame will be turned left, his position won't change).
Also, when he will be transformed into a Fairy and then back to normal, he still will be able to Spin-jump.

And last thing, Link loses his ability to Spin-jump after transforming into a Statue and then back to normal, but every other character does that too.

Well, that is a known secret.

IIRC, you can do this one without a glitch , tough.

Yeah, I know you can only insert them with LunaDLL/.lvl manipulation, I just meant if they could actually be useful as a level element. They have some really interesting properties

That's actually really cool. Can Peach do this too, under the same conditions?

Yes, but she can also float while spin-jumping and she don't need an enemy under the player block.

Double post again!!!!!!

So I've just discovered a glitch with Rainbow Shell. If Mario will jump on the level's edge while riding a Rainbow Shell, Mario will fall on the floor and will continue spinning and sparkling:
Spoiler: show

You can control Mario by pressing Left and Right, but you can't jump while doing that glitch!

If you will hit the wall, you will be pushed down in the floor:
Spoiler: show

The only way to stop the glitch, is to spin-jump.

Idk if this glitch was discovered already. And also no LunaDLL used.

If you slide while holding jump button instead of sliding Mario will walk down the slide. You can't kill enemies though.

Most of us already knew this.
It seems like Redigit actually tried to give Toad the Yoshi riding ability.

If you use the shadowstar cheat, there's a pretty big chance that you'll end up falling through lava instead of being killed by it (there's still a chance that you'll get killed, though).

The order in which episodes are listed on the episode selection screen is decided in alphabetical order based on the names of the folders, not the actual episode names.
