There seems to be this bug that's affecting some of the embedded youtube videos on the site.

https://imgur.com/yk3IQe3

I don't know if this is related to deleted videos or not.
I don't think its related to deleted videos because my videos on my project topic also don't work in the forums but work fine in youtube.

Have the monthly threads and featured content officially stopped by now? By which time will they come back?

I think it is just Aristo being to busy to do this, although given how far we are into December, then we may as well wait for January and mergge the 2 threads then?

Happy New Year everybody :)

If I submit a private message, when or how does it change from the "Outbox" to the "Sent messages"? TIA

which means that as long as a message is in outbox, you can edit it instead of sending a new one.

Here's my question:

When's the next SMBX 2.0 level contest?

Just curious... I wanna show everyone in the community my level creating skills with none of the Super Mario Bros. 3-related graphic crap that MOST of Y'ALL use a lot.

How do you call people who create levels and episodes? Level/episode creators, level/episode devs, level/episode authors...?

I would call them developers/game developers.

I think that's quite an overstatement. I'd simply call them level (or episode) designers, as has been used in the past

Is there a guideline about how to categorize bugs (major vs. minor etc.)? TIA

Is the bug just a weird or silly thing or does it completely ruin or crash the game?

It is a bug in a mainline level that can make the level unbeatable but can also be reliably avoided. edit: So, I guess it belongs to the weird/silly/minor category. "Major" bug probably means it can stop progress for an undetermined timespan, because it kills the player character at random, makes the level (or episode) unbeatable from the beginning or makes players erroneously believe that was the case./edit

Thanks :)

It's both extraneous and trivial to classify bugs like that. Anything striking and major is obligatory to point out if you betatest; the rest is your own discretion.

You're right, normally I'd sort bugs just roughly by severity. BBCT was a special case because I wasn't sure when the bugs would be fixed. So, with that (very) elaborate list players now see at a glance which bugs they really want to avoid.</r>

Hm? I haven't noticed anything that overwhelmed the active moderators recently, so could someone from the team please clear up my confusion as to why there's a need for more nowadays? I agree there's a lot of inactive staff members, but that doesn't seem to really be an issue with how few things are happening that might need addressing by staff members on a regular basis...

There really hasn't been anything major to deal with lately, but I really don't know why there's a need for more mods either because there's so little to deal with. And to be honest I haven't seen that much inactivity among staff lately so I'm not sure where that's coming from either. The only regular issues I've noticed is dealing with SMBX thread requirements and the occasional spam bot and both are dealt with rather quickly. I know this doesn't add much but this is all I am aware of. As the app deadline approaches I guess more will be known and someone can hopefully help clear the confusion.

Less question and more a complaint but I don't think there's another more appropriate thread for this?

The new update to the graphics forum rules will make stuff a million times harder to find. Previously you could go off the topic title and just google or forum search your way to your result, but now you'd have to check every thread individually and pray they have comprehensive content lists or at least screenshots showing what you happen to be looking for. It makes sense for this kind of system to exist for levels because the main appeal of a level is your design ability, but for other creations like graphics, music, code, new features, etc... the appeal lies more in the content itself and its use cases for creators. I think if anything, large packs and grouping stuff together in threads should be discouraged rather than encouraged (think how sprites on MFGG are organised).

On that note, introducing a plugin for the forums that lets you add tags to threads would help a lot for making stuff ACTUALLY easier to find. Tagging "tileset" "grassland" and "smb3" would give a great selection of threads for exactly what a person looking for these tags would need.
A quick google reveals an official implementation:

Functionally the forum will basically work like the GFX Index thread. The rule is also going to be phased in to where members can organize their own threads in a way that works to make search easier. If you know who created the graphic you're looking for you can just search for their thread and if not then the search function can still be used to find key words for posts within threads as you would search for key words in a topic title. Overall the utility of the rule should be as useful as it is for Levels and the Art forum since levels and graphics are both individual creations by users, and can showcase your work all in one place that people can use as they see fit. As things progress though things will probably change, and the forum won't look identical to Levels.
