It's too hard. The level design is bad. You fail.
It's too short. The Points are bullshit. You fail.

But yeah, I think you need to explain yourself better. Difficulty is not a good reason to bash an episode either.

I really like this. It's pretty hard, but I absolutely love the new sprite work and the level design. Also, the music is fantastic! I like how 2-1 is literally just 1-1 but with bongos and stuff.

Nice work, buckaroo!

He's right though. You didn't point out what you found hard so the creator will fix it.

General Review:
Level design: Creative with all this mapping and theme. Autumn, Japanese, City, Desert, Sky, Fire, and Giants-themed.
Levels are a pain with some Kaizo-like jumps and skills.
Bosses are fine, the story is fine.
The last world is hard as hell. . .
I beat all of it with cheats.
N P C S : I am sorry but this is the worst part is your episode.
Generators are placed with high speed which the player has to make a precise timing.
The lack of power-ups and obscured 1-ups make the game easier to have a game-over in this episode.
There are WAY too many NPC gathered in one places.
Some graphics are blind to see. Like the umbrella in 0-3, I don't know it was a donut block until I died.
NPCs are placed in an order that they can gang up on the player and kill him easily before he figures what he was supposed to do.
Some NPCs tended to have coded in such way that it is unstoppable. (Hammer bros in world-B)(Bowser in world-G)(Final boss in world-0)etc.
Anything else: The "Can't go back' setting is cruel as sometimes if you messed up you just kill yourself.
The music is quite interesting. There are different remixes in different themed world.
The Toad dialog is rather creative, with different texts.
This episode would be good if the difficulty is adjusted.

That's all I have to say.

The more I play it, the more its a time warp back to the 80's. Very impressed that 1-ups in this actually mean something as its challenging. Level D-3 blew me away as a very artistic stage. Also I enjoy the fact that if you are not on it enough theres places where you have to suicide and start over, no need to remedy that its a proper punishment for not being alert. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the repetitive soundtrack, although it seems to serve its purpose quite well. You have to be determined in order to beat it which makes it even more vintage and old school. bossedit8's play through is beastin on that.

The episode is beautiful, it looks like you've put a lot of work on the custom graphics. The level design is a good re-imagination of the first Super Mario Bros.

This is a beautifully executed episode. In fact, the quality is so good that its presentation and build quality is equal to something that Nintendo would release. I highly recommend that everyone give this episode a try.

If some episode has the classic Mario gameplay and some particular graphics style, means that I like it. So now you know what is my opinion about this one. Good job!

In response to the recent talk in the Airship Attack thread:

Yes, I "completed" this. Though with not-so-sheer means. Most popular ones were closing the game right after dying to avoid loss of power and lives, and placing power-ups in the editor to skip the long long way back to the toadhouse. At a few occasions I also felt like cheating or placing a shoe. The bonus world was so unnerving in terms of difficulty so I just cheated it completely.

What I really like about this is how you managed the difficulty. The fact that it gets so hard truly is reminiscent of the old days of gaming.

When I downloaded and extracted the folder and booted up SMBX2, It doesn't show the episode when I press 1 Player Game button!
Can you help me figure out the problem by commenting on this post?

Did you place the folder in your SMBX2 "worlds" folder?

To SMBX person on the bottom of my own comment: Yes, I did put it into the "worlds" folder.

ok, what did you do after that? You extracted the zip, and then how does it look like? Sometimes the episode folder just contains another folder where all the content is in, depending on how the download is structured and how you extract it. So make sure that the "Super Mario Bros 0" folder inside the "worlds" folder instantly contains all the content.
