SMBX Episode Discussion Thread (Mario's Nightmare Boss Rush)

I never heard about this SMBX episode, but I will give y'all my only hunch:

It might have inspired the majority of the community to obsessed over the overuse of 16-bit Super Mario Bros. 3 imo

The episode was released in 2012 (at least on RMN), I think SMB3's been a popular style since the beginning

The one thing that I really hate about this episode is the fact that you can't travel to previous worlds unless you find a secret exit. I had to painstakingly edit the map so that I could backtrack!

Once I sorted out that issue, it was smooth sailing. However, there were a few levels that used music from games other than SMB3, so it didn't quite achieve the "throwback" feel like Return to Dinosaur Land did.

Despite these issues, the levels themselves are fun to play.

I didn't figure out how to download the custom build (for custom world map music?). I downloaded it like any other episode and it played well.

Extremely overrated.

Most of the levels are great, but 3-Fortress needs to go die in a hole.

Sadly a really forgettable episode. There was a lot of hype surrounding it initally, but all I remember now is how terrible the giant world was, to the point where I lost all interest in continuing to play the game.

Mario Classic was decent, but there were a few levels that were too frustrating for me. At least the custom graphics were spectacular.

longest smbx episode. other than that, nothing special.

extreme enemy spam and eyesore graphics and extremely bugged; red coins are very hard to find; after World 13 or such I didn't know anymore which route to go, and the creator left a long time ago so they won't fix anything.

yes, it not only has very loud graphics but also some real graphical errors.
