Robin rolls his eyes at being ignored. "That Paladin lady's way too selfless. She's gonna mess herself up if she doesn't let people try to help her." He quietly says to himself, before walking over to Khiana. "I've got it." Is all he says, swiping a bucket and naturally going for the fountain to fill it up. Of course after doing that he goes to throw the water on fire, repeat ad infinitum until it's not longer necessary.

Vardo was unsure about what to do next. He usually approached people openly, but his experience in Rabentau made him somewhat wary of doing so. Additionally, the citizens seemed rather busy, and a stranger butting in may not make all that good of a first impression. On the other hand, just standing at the entrance of the plaza and not helping probably looks even worse. He looked around the plaza to see if the efforts were coordinated by somebody.

You spend a few minutes tending to the wounded, helping them carry others into buildings, and bringing new wounded into the square. Much to your surprise, no one seems to have taken notice that you just appeared, and whatever small talk you do try to make while working appears to go unnoticed.

As frantic as the square is, you see no one of any sort of official status actively taking on the role as a leader or director, which comes off as concern at first, but you assume that these people are used to working closely together, especially in times such as this. As you make your way through the plaza, you feel a few rain drops hit your feathers, and as you look up, you can see the storm has reached the town for the most part.

As the rain begins to fall, the townsfolk have started to move people from the square into a nearby church. Those acting as guards have secured the town square perfectly, and soon the square becomes cleared of wounded. One of the taverns offers a place for people to rest as the storm blows through, leaving its door open so the warm light from inside may shed into the cold plaza.

Khiana just sat in a corner to the right of the front entrance, absentmindedly twirling her pen from her scholar's pack. She was quite amazed how supportive everyone was of each other, how willing Hilda was to help others before nursing herself, how Robin went to such heavy work on stopping the town damsge. She had never seen such a scene before, everywhere she had been, it was always competition and backstabbing, figuratively and literally. How could people be so supportive a d positive in such a situation as this?

She had sanctuary in the church, so she pulled off her hood and let her curly hair fall, and her eyes had a story grey, reflecting the ugly weather outside. Anyone could see her face now and see the meek schoolgirl that the government everywhere seemed to fear so much. She walked over to Hilda and asked "You're quite busy right now, what can I do to help?"

Thinking that just standing in the rain would do little good, Vardo decides to head into the tavern since that is the kind of place more suited to him than a church. Once inside, he takes a good look at the situation in order to find someone to possibly approach about the situation.

Hilda looks over at Khiana, concerned. "Have you noticed anything strange about these townspeople? They seem loath to communicate with us. Maybe it's just me, or the recent events have them upset, but no one seems to respond when I speak with them."

"Hmm, is that so?" Khiana gave a thoughtful face. Dodgy people huh? This kinda surprised her. Just a moment ago, she was so astounded at how well they worked together. Could they be hiding something? She wasn't the best at conversations but she walked out into the tavern and up to the bar, trying to strike a conversation with someone random.

"This is a pretty awful thing to happen, I'm sorry we couldn't have come sooner. Why do you think the Orcs decided to attack this town of all places?"

As you enter the tavern, many people turn to look at you, and they all share a look of shock, terror, and confusion. The patrons then begin a collective hushed whisper, glancing up at you every once in a while, yet darting their eyes away when you look at them with concern. A waitress comes up to you, rather shaken by your appearance, but she remains stoic. "What can I help you with, s-sir? Er... ma'am?" The young woman seems rather confused, uncertain of what to address you by.

Result: 18.
The barkeep slams a mug down onto the counter, leaning up against it. "This is a common occurrence, it happens every once in a while, and only takes the folks here a few weeks to rebuild." He seemingly ignores the fact that you admitted to not coming to the town's aid sooner, but he still raises an eyebrow at you.
"What brings you here, traveler? You don't look like any of the normal folk I see in Fleetpoint." He tosses a glance over at Vardo, who has been dragged off to a table in the corner of the tavern.

Robin heads into the tavern and sees the crowd around Vardo. "Oi! Give a guy some space, yeah?" He calls with his distinctive Decemian accent, pushing through to get to Vardo.

Wanting to comfort the Waitress, Vardo gave the waitress a confident smile. "Sir is correct; I am sorry that my appearance is so unusual. Though there is not really much I can do about it, so you'll have to bear with that I guess." Thankfully, Vardo had to handle situations like this multiple times already, so he had some experience on how to act when others are taken aback by his appearance.

"Either way, what was up with-" Just as he was trying to get some information, he could hear Robin's words shattering through the awkward silence in the cavern that Vardo created. Although him busting in kind of ruined his attempts at integration, it is always nice to see a familiar face in a situation like this.

Khiana ushers for a drink.
"We were all in a prison wagon leaving the nation of Anselmarn. I guess we were too damn threatening to them. I normally leave business to myself but because of their leader I would not mind overthrowing it if I got the chance. Anyway..."
She put out the basic info of what has happened between the blackgates and arriving at Fleetpoint.
"Is it always the same group of orcs that attack or is it typically a different ragtag group?"

"No, I've been defending the weak as best I can for some time," Hilda says solemnly. "I come from the village of Dorme to the south." She sits still for several seconds. "You know, you're the first townsperson that's spoken to me since I came into town. A bit strange, honestly, but I suppose I can understand given how much hardship these raiders have put them through. Still... I sense something is off about this place, more than can be attributed to the recent attack. Do you have any idea what might be happening here?"

The bartender pours you a mug of a green-tinted grog.
"It ain't the same group of orcs necessarily, but they're always orcs, all bearing the same clan standard and the same brutish, crude weapons. They come here every once in a while from the mountains in the distance to demand resources, and when the people here don't comply, they burn down half the town, steal stuff, and leave. This happens at least once every two months, and nobody will do anything about it." He steps away for a moment to tend to the other patrons, but quickly returns to you, rather intrigued that you've sparked interest in the events of Fleetpoint.

The waitress turns to see Robin's entrance, and she immediately appears heart-struck by his appearance. She blushes deeply, but tries to hide it.

The priest's expression does not change, still focusing on the injured.
"I... can't really explain what happened here, and why the townsfolk are being quiet about it." He speaks in a hushed tone. "There's a good reason why they choose not to talk to strangers here, crusader. If you really wish to get some information out of people, seek out Magonel, he's an old sage that lives along the Blood Coast, not far to the north of Fleetpoint. He knows more about this town's secrets than anyone else is willing to let on." The priest glances over at you, nods, and walks off to examine the other wounded.

After tending to a few more wounded, Hilda exits the church, a bit shaken by what she's heard from the priest. She seeks out the rest of the former prisoners, hearing that Vardo, Robin, and Khiana were seen heading into a local tavern. Feeling a bit out of place wearing her armor, she walks up behind them and whispers. "Could I steal your attention outside for a moment? I've learned of a potentially urgent danger from the local faithful."

Robin notices the blush easily enough. "What is it about me that always makes people blush?" He wonders, holding his left hand against the sapphire necklace. He quickly steps back and looks at Hilda, whispering back: "Just a few minutes, I need to see if I can score."

And with that he steps back forward and gives the waitress as charming a grin as he can muster. "Apologies for the interruption. My good friend here is still a little new around these parts, so I wanted to make sure he's all well and good." He explains, keeping the smile up. "Normally I'd hate to get in the way of a lovely lady like you, but what can one do?"

Khiana took a few gulps of the drink. She left two GP, one for the drink and another for the tip.

"Huh, sounds like there's a bit of a guild somewhere out of town. I'll tell my friends about it, see if we can get that sorted out, hell, I might find something of theirs I may want to keep. It comes out good for both of us then. Hey, here comes one now!"

She saw Hilda walk over. Hilda always seemed so awkward and almost innocent, it was fairly charming to her, her character just seems to brighten Khiana up. However, the news she brought her didn't. She thanked the bartender for the short conversation and walked out with Hilda.

She blushes more, but then hears a name called out from somewhere in the tavern, and she quickly perks up and runs off.

Robin shrugs. "Damn, was hoping I could coax her out of information." He remarks, before going back to the rest of the group. "Sorry, didn't work. What did you need?"

"Listen... I've noticed that the townspeople here have been acting very strangely," Hilda says as she gets the former prisoners outside, talking low and looking over her shoulder to avoid any suspicion. from nearby locals "I know I told you about this earlier, Khiana, and I understand why you didn't take it for much, but based on what I heard from the priest of the local temple, this is no coincidence. He told me of a sage living on the Blood Coast to the north who knows something about what's going on here. I've felt a sense of dread ever since we defeated those orcs, and not just because of the orcs themselves... I'd like to ask the three of you as well as that Warforged and elf from earlier to come with me to the Blood Coast if you're willing. I have a feeling I won't be able to handle this on my own."

Robin appears to think for a moment - he already knows his answer, but he's trying to make a bit of dramatic tension - before giving an enthusiastic nod of the head. "Back into the hero business, huh? Sounds good to me!" He says with a smile. "Blood Coast sounds like someone was trying a bit too hard to name it," He adds with a glance to the side. "But we can probably handle it if we stick together. I'm in."
