I usually don't see battle levels often nowadays though.

This SML2 styled level looks really good! It could be a regular level too, imo.

The blue shading on the clouds is a little too deep. Try using Garro's cloud tileset, or at least recolor the screen's tileset with the colors from it.

I kind of like the colors of the lava. Something seems slightly off, but then again I haven't opened a 3D Mario side scroller with lava in a while to see how they modernized lava. I like yours. It's different.
