Game Concept Thread

The popular forum game that separates the good from the bad, the strong from the weak, and the loose-cannon cops from the slightly schizophrenic. That's all after we figure out who's who, of course.

I didn't attack you so you don't need to get defensive. Yes it was short, but it basically sums up my feedback and I'm not the kind of person who just throws tons of fluff to make anything seem less harsh. I had no ill intentions towards you with my comment though so don't worry.

EDIT: You also didn't need to go ballistic on Sanct and throw his comment out of proportion. He has a valid point that you should take with good regards for his feedback and not get so defensive as it really doesn't look good on your behalf, especially when no one's insulting you, your game, etc.

Alright, i'll make sure that i listen. But it's just that i don't really understand why he's singling me out in particular with the many games out there that are basically vanilla mafia games with a couple extra roles.

He's not. Maybe he just hasn't seen them or you just don't notice some interesting role that he thinks he likes. The best Mafia games aren't the ones with crazy overclocked gimmicks and mechanics but the ones that just put a spin on normal gameplay. Yours just didn't have that so he called you out on it and suggested trying to add something creative to it so that it would be fun to play

The only thing the zombie can do is say the name of whomever they want to lynch. They can't say anything else, and acts like a regular dead person otherwise.

Right, but they could get information about who to lynch through private communication with living players.

Good point. The zombie can make only 1 extra lynch after death.

Yeah that should be good TheDinoKing; roles that can post one message after dying usually aren't a problem.

Well, do you have any other ideas of how i can be innovative?

any creative ideas i have get struck down, becuase their either not fun, or pointless, or too overpowered.
I really can't think of anything else. :|

Since the trial phase can allow someone to survive, this can slow down the game.
I would suggest adding a vigilante in your game to speed things up.

To be honest, you really haven't presented anything overly creative yet and no one can really help you with that. Try browsing some of the old Host Sign-ups and games and see what kind of mechanics appeal to you. The trial idea was kinda outside but pressed right up against the box; you're getting there but you also need to consider, "What will make people want to play my game and how do I want them to remember it?"

Friend: Knows 2 other friends.

Zombie: Can make one extra vote after death. Cannot post or try to communicate with live players.

Explosive amateur: Can kill someone as well if they get lynched.

Double voter: Has 2 votes. Doesn’t know his ability. Card flips orange.

Unsuccessful psychic: Can make an anonymous post each night either in the thread, or as a PM. Card flips red.

Yellow – Negative vote.

White – If the person dies, their death is not announced.
Black – Card flips black.
Grey – Cannot talk but still vote.

Wins: Survive until another team gets their supposed win condition, and steal the win.
TP is a bit overpowered
Kid with a gun is a bit questionable. So he HAS to kill in order to lynch vote? If the player that gets this role is a bit smart, he will know that being able to lynch vote is not worth killing a likely town player.
Expect me to get replaced if I get Zombie, because this role sucks a lot.

Zombie can communicate and post before death but not after death. Should have been clear on that, sorry.

Edit for kid with a gun, doesn't need to kill in Night 1,2,3. He only need to start killing starting from Night 4.

Edit for painter, only immune to night kills in Night 1.

I dunno, a double day mechanic.
The first day is a normal day with lynching.
The second day is the trial phase with the person who got the second most votes in trial.

Personally I despise the trial idea since it's basically making Lynching twice as time consuming with no gain in enjoyment

So, i like, had another idea, if you take this seriously or not is up to you.
M??: Slicky Slimes

19 Players
Roleflip
New “Merging” Mechanic
Role Usage is Optional
Everyone can visit

So there was, like one time a slime village, it was peaceful most of time, but then one day, serveal other slimes decided that they want to take the village for themselves, the like, umm, village has to like, find them one by one before they all become nothing but slimy substance on the ground. Oh yeah, and sludge monster or something decides that it should all be ended.

The Bad Slimes

The Big Bad Slime: if someone merges with them, the other's identity will be blacked out if they get lynched in this time period, however, while merged, they can't be nightkilled.
Prickly Slime: They can’t be merged with as they are prickly all over and anyone that visits them will instead be silenced the next day phase.
Magic Slime: If two slimes happen to be merged they can target someone to either undo it or merge them with another. or they can force two slimes to merge together.
Gray n’ Sneaky Slime: They can find out someone’s color each night

The Slime Village
Inspector Slime: They can find someone’s color each night
Chilling Slime: They can use their ability on someone to prevent them from being merged that night.
Protective Slime: Can protect someone from a nightkill but regardless they’ll end up merging with them aside from the Prickly Slime, Firey Slime, and Sludge Monster.
Firey Slime: they can’t merge with other slimes with the exception of the aqua slime, which if they do merge with them, at that point they'll now be able to merge with other slimes.
Aqua Slime: If they merge with the firey slime, it'll allow the firey slime to merge with other ones. and in return, they can disable an ability every other night.
Psychic Slime: If they are visted, then that player's lynch votes will count as two.
Green Slime: Townie
Blue Slime: Townie
Pink Slime: Townie
Orange Slime: Townie
Teal Slime: Townie
White Slime: Townie
Red Slime: Since they are red, they are suspected, so they flip as red.
Purple Slime: Same problem as the red slime, so they flip purple.

Independent
Sludge Monster:
They can kill a player each night, and they'll gain that player's ability and are able to gain up to 3 abilities. They also can't die at night nor can they merge either.
If they manage to get both the inspector slime and gray n sneaky
slime's abilities, they'll get a roleflip ability. which'll take up two ability slots. They can use one of the abilities they obtain along with their regular nightkill.

Merging Mecanic
Spoiler: show
Basically, the way that this mechanic works is that if two people(or slimes in this cause) both happen to visit eachother, then for one day and night phase, each thing that they do will tie together, meaning that if one were killed in this time period, the other would die too, if one has an ability used on them, so would the other, if one casts a vote, their vote counts for the same, the way this is determine is who voted last, so whenever you merge, regardless of if they are on your side or not, you’ll have to decide things together until this period of time ends. You do get notified of this happening.
The Sludge Monster can get abilities from:
Spoiler: show
Prickly Slime(Silencing)
Magic Slime(Merging Magic)
Gray N Sneaky Slime(Inspection)
Inspector Slime(Inspection)
Chilling Slime(Anti-Merging Magic)
Protective Slime(Paint someone black twice but painting wears off)
Fiery Slime(Burn the Lynch votes once in the Game)
Aqua Slime(Ability Blocking)

Interesting idea, but the mechanic isn't clear enough. Do you know if you've merged? Do you know who you've merged with? Also with the Slime Monster, how can they silence someone who's already dead? And what does "cover up" mean; change colour or not appear in the phase change message as killed?

It would also might be more interesting since there's so many "Townies" to make it possible for any player to choose to visit another each Night and maybe cater a role or two to this idea.

Also, this is set up more as a Roleflip game since all players have unique roles.

I really like this concept though
