PM the active mods. I did this and got a name change by the end of the day.
When only active Mods should be on the team so little things like this aren't a problem.
Moderators cannot change people's names. Only administrators can.

I'm very confused by something. You see, there was recently a guy who posted a version of TI1 with SMB3 graphics, which topic then got locked for being plagarism, which is odd, since I've heard from some people that you don't need redigit's permission to use his episodes, plus he wasn't claiming it as his own. What makes this even more confusing is that people are completely okay with the TI2 Betterfied series, which kinda falls into the same category, and there's also episodes like this, which clearly use levels from the Invasion series, which haven't been locked yet. It would be real nice if someone could clear up these inconsistensies and say what exactly classifies as plagarism in episodes.

I've noticed something. Most new users make posts in like, the projects section for example, and make posts like "i'm making a new episode called [insert project name here]. " and no screenshots or anything.
Other times, they're posting questions in the wrong sections.
I feel like this could be avoided by maybe like, if you're a first time user then the forum rules pop up before you get to see anything? Idk, just a suggestion.

But how can you force them to read the rules?
It would be great if people actually read rules before posting. (Doesn't only apply to this forum)

Maybe make it a popup that appears the first time someone logs in?

Yeah, I havn't read the rules the first time, cuz all websites has pretty much the same rules, and I guess this is what new users are also thinking, so yeah, since smbx has pretty specific rules, I agree, they should pop up for new users.

What they really need to do is make those rules bars that appear at the top of other forums, like on NSMBX - that outlines the fundamental rules of what to do when making levels/projects/etc. so new users don't miss them. Let's be honest here, nobody even wants to read the rules likely due to them thinking it'll be common sense stuff on forums and that (as in, no flaming, no bumping, no advertising, stay on topic etc.) so they miss out on forum-centric rules like screenshots, so effectively shoving the forum-centric rules into their faces by this means would help alleviate this issue. However, that still doesn't stop the occasional hit-and-runner who goes in, posts a topic saying something like "Super Mario Bros. 4 coming soon, no screenshots cuz I haven't done them yet." and then disappear forever from the site. It's clear that they're only doing this for attention and you can't stop those.

Merged with the Site Discussion Thread. A rules popup is a good idea btw.

Even the rules will pop-up after registration or logging in, there is a big chance that they will just skip it. Because of this.

The software this forum runs on.
But I am not sure if it is possible (on prophpBB there is a box for rules in the settings for each forum but I don't know what it does, or if it is doable here). There may also be an option for passwords, but that could be counterproductive.
