I'm going to wait to upgrade the board software before I make any modifications to files.

The thing about the Smash question is that the bot owner can just give the bots the answer, since it's fixed. Captchas are a lot better at preventing bots from joining, anyways.
They aren't, actually.

That link only lists the easiest captchas to solve. Google's new captcha takes correctness with session information, cookies, interaction, all added on top of that unlike most other captchas that just look for a right or wrong answer.
Again, you're the only person I've seen that treats regards captcha in the way you do.

And the new reCAPTCHA is something I can't add right now, so I have the next best option in place.
It's as simple as programming the answer to the question, sure, but if these spambots were from a monitored source (i.e. targeting this forum directly) then the code would've been cracked much sooner. My guess is that these are general popular-website-spambots that go in lots of places to see if registration is possible. They may be programmed to read questions, with reading potentially meaning copying and pasting them into a search engine, but the fact that we went several months without a problem is evidence that Q&A captchas work.

Well, that was easy.
The board software has been upgraded. Please report any bugs, discrepancies, inconsistencies, likes, dislikes, etc.!!!

I must say that I like the look of the new software. However, where are all the global announcements?

I have 4 new PMs even though I don't, and everything seems really stretched out to where even fewer posts can fit on screen than before.
What's new that isn't a display change, any change logs?
Ninja edit: the PM problem was just PMs the sender deleted that were remarked as unread. It's nothing.

- Global announcements now have root forums, which means no more problems with not being able to post in them (gonna fix the problem with them, they should be back soon)
- Notifications menu
- Many cosmetic improvements (still in progress)
- Less redirect pages (try quick replying to a post or subscribing to/unsubscribing from a thread)
The "stretch" is likely due to the topics/posts columns having exact widths now instead of percentage widths.

This seems great! Everything is so different, but not enough that I'm confused. This is great!
edit: wow, posting is really fast now

Yeah, I'm also glad the interim message "This message has been posted successfully" is gone, because it was a bit pointless.

Online users works fine for me, AeroMatter. Though, that page is slightly different for moderators so that might be the problem.

This new system is not very user friendly on mobile devices. I also don't like that you can't view the time of the last post on the main page any more.
However I do like the screen display self adjusting to the width of my phone screen.

Strange. The boxes don't show up for me after refreshing and clearing cache.

Oh yeah, the colorful blocks aren't there for me either, on the non-forum pages of the website. I don't think those were affected by the board software update though. (?)

The avatars are kind of messed up too. I don't like their new placement on the page.

I think that's the page auto-adjusting to your screen resolution/sizes. I kind of liked it to start but now it's kind of annoying.

Strange; Edit seems to work for me. Maybe it's a mobile-exclusive problem?
I do think it would be a good idea to post whether or not you're using mobile when you encounter an error, and this goes for everyone.
