What are the 5 worlds we can use custom music? This is 2014, so the simplest level SMBX has custom music, and I understand you want to follow the sequel, but look at redigit, look at the difference SMBX 1.3 and SMBX 1.2, he was not limited to small changes, maybe in The Invasion 1 and 2 the level designers not know many things of SMBX, plus the overweight is not something to care a many people I think we could add custom musics, but repeated use.
I think we could add custom musics to the world of shadows, but with this:
- All level designers will have the folder of TI3, this would have: official graphics, custom musics (approved musics) and allowed very little musics, to prevent overweight in the game.

Thanks! I hadn't designed any vanilla levels in a really long time, so I'm glad to see I'm getting the hang of it.

I like that idea. That way we'll have some custom music choices, but not so much that will make the file size too large.

I also thought about the size weight, and what if we add to the folder TI3 two songs each topic? ie 2 pastoral songs, 2 desert, 2 cave, etc, so can avoid excess weight.
Also I've fixed Misplaced Pipehammer Maze, donwload:

EDIT: SuperMario 7, I've played your level, I enjoyed it, but you must replace the exit of the shadows, should be a star, not roulette SMB3. (:

Oh, thanks for telling me, Dark-Mecha77. Since that's so simple to fix, would you mind doing that Valtteri since it would probably be easier for everyone (assuming your collecting the final copy of the game).

Dark-Mecha77: I played your level and it was really good! It had fitting length, coherent design, and it looked good. There was one particular placement in the shadow realm that I thought was a little overdoing it, though. In the middle-right area of section 4, there is a muncher placed in the middle of three coin blocks. I couldn't get past it while small, much less with a powerup. Also, I feel like there could be a better default music choice for the shadow realm. I'm not sure if it's just me, but the current music sounds more fitting for an outside setting. Maybe you could use one of the Metroid themes? Anyone else have any suggestions?

SuperMario7: I played your level too, and it was also great. It really felt like a modernized version of one of the levels from the original SMB2. Nice job combining the overworld and underground sections in a way felt unique, but still gave vibes of the originals. I was also really impressed with the way you executed the shadow realm sections. I know it's minor, but in the cave section with the invisible blocks, I think there could be a more fitting graphic for those. If you have Chad's Super Mario Star Expedition, you can look in the folder 2-4 Crumbling Cliff Climb. There you will find some fitting SMB2 blocks. They are blocks 192 and 193. Also, there is an error corresponding with the level-start events that Dark-Mecha77 found when he was testing my level. If you die after getting the midpoint, you will be unable to move for a brief period of time. To fix this, place invisible axes on the blocks that the players stand on in section 21. The axe's must trigger the event that starts the event in the "death" option. Be sure put the axes on a layer, and hide that layer on the event that starts everything. This way the player won't inadvertently step on both axes and trigger the same event twice. And of course, be sure to unclick auto-start from the start-up event so the player won't be frozen on the midpoint in the first place

Thank you for your review of my level, sorry for not having an opinion of your level at this time, I think you're right, I exaggerated a little with the section of shade, and I know the music does not fit, but it is very hard to find a song by default that match with the underground environment and high difficulty, so I would like Valtteri allowed to use some songs from danger in sections of the shadow, as they are very difficult to find in SMBX, I have corrected the errors mentioned, the link download this at my old post, and BTW, if no one publishes, I will do it, this is the corrected version of the intro, please, use it in their new levels.

1, 3, 8, 11 and 12. And 13, too, I guess. Worlds 1, 3 and 8 are complete so that leaves 11, 12 and 13.

We'll send you a demo once we have enough material. For now, I think it would be reasonable to give you the music that's already in the game. If you can find a fitting track for the shadow realm, you can use it but please use the SMBX default music in the levels that are recurring from Invasion 2.

The idea of using a devkit and a selected amout of grass/desert/etc. music like Mario Classic did sounds like a great idea.

i too use a devkit for my project, M&L's Delightful Adventure (wich nobody gives a shit about apparently)

I finished my second level:
https://www.mediafire.com/?7c1wwn5hdbs5cva
It was very difficult to estimate accurately the events
And I would like to claim "3-1 Subcon Nightmare Land".
If there is an error in the level, please notify me.

Oh man, that's a good level but please change the graphics to original SMW. Dino Island is supposed to be a SMW world.

Everyone else who's making a level for Dino Island (Shinbison-Kof, Chad, SuperMario7, zlakerboy357), the level has to use SMW graphics. Chad has Pwnhammer Ecodome; that's an exception, but the level should have something from SMW. That is if you're not making it all Metroid, which I believe you said you won't be doing. And I know zlakerboy357 knows it's supposed to be a SMW level and I saw already that the level he's designing is SMW styled.

Do you want that remove all custom graphics? That would ruin the entire level, plus they are simple recoloured, Is really? D:

All the SMB3 recolored/textured ones, and probably replace some with SMW styled ones if needed. What do you mean that would ruin the entire level?

I'm not trying to be a rude, but the SMW colors are disgusting, too colorful and sometimes I cause burning eyes, I hate those colors, look at this horrible picture of the level without re-colored graphs:
Spoiler: show

And look at this cool picture:
Spoiler: show

Clearly, this would be horrible and would ruin completely the level, I think everyone hates palettes SMW, I know you want to try to make a nice sequel, but reaching these ends ?!

I actually really like the SMW style. Yeah, the SMB3 screen looks a bit better, but you can do things to improve the look. For example you could add berries to the bushes, or add trees above. :)

Not everyone hates the SMW style. I certainly don't think we should completely leave it out of the game. Again, this is Invasion and one of the main points is to present what's available in the vanilla SMBX and SMW is a big part of it. Please submit a SMW edition of your level, it won't ruin it. :)

Dark-Mecha77 wrote:I have a question, Why SuperMario7 can add trees and shrubs SMB1 SMB2 and I cannot?
Well his level had too much weird stuff for the style we're going for so I asked him to remove two things, one possibly being the trees. I personally think they belong in SMB2 levels but it's clearly something you and SuperMario7 love using in your levels, and I'd hate to stop you. The SMB2 trees are fine in an overworld setting (just don't use them in every level). In a cave setting however they're too much.

I don't find the SMB1 shrubs to be as much of an issue.
