Leave them as is. There is nothing wrong with the current TI3 levels. Besides, why put someone's work in the trash for nothing?

If they end up being discarded entirely, couldn't you just go ahead and resubmit them after becoming Level Designer.

They should be vanilla graphics, over the top epic graphics aren't the type of levels in any of the Invasion projects.

No, we have evolved past vanilla graphics as a community. We have to evolve what The Invasion is as well.

I say we keep the original levels and just keep creating levels with custom graphics but give it some throwbacks to the original two games.

To be really honest I'd keep the levels and let the Level Designers do the rest of the job. There was a reason we did get promoted.

My vote depends on what ya'll are gonna do. If option 2 would describe the rest of the levels after these, then I pick 2. If you guys can use completely custom tilesets, I pick option 1.

The level designers will be given a tileset to work with when they claim an Invasion homage level.

the submission thing made the project more fast-paced.

and i was a project moderator and a level designer (even if i didn't submit any levels) on SMBX:R so to see i'm still not a level designer, well, that's rather disappointing tbh.

It died several times, like community projects of this nature tend to do anyway. And you're not a level designer because you didn't do anything.

I remember being approved for designing a level, back at the other forums (it was the pyramid-level for world 3), but since I didn't work on it further, I cannot submit it.
Also I guess, that I am out of it anyways, right ^^?

Also I voted for leaving them, as they are. They are done already, and much work surely was used to make them.

One of the reasons of the Invasion 3 was, to show off the new things, that were possible, like TI2 did back then.
It aims to be at highest standard possible, in terms of design, quality, and look. At least that was what it aimed for, back at the SMBX-revived forums.

So this is one of the reasons why these GFX get used, instead of the default GFX.
But totally needed are they not, of course.

Why not replace the CGFX in the levels to all be semi-vanilla?

You should make sign-ups or something where people have to PM you two levels and you review both of them and you can only be promoted to a Level Designer if your level receives above a 8, let's say.

It didn't die the last time until this forum superseded SMBXR. Joey even refused to make it the official project, and then SMBXR died. I think I have reason to accuse Joey's refusal to allow this project to be the official forum project of being the catalyst for killing TI3.

Before you accuse me of senselessly hating on Joey, I'm just mad that Joey's own decisions led to you guys using that to justify the level designers group.

This. I could definitely make 8+/10 content if I was motivated to get a sexy purple name color to have the honor of working with such an amazing team of level designers.

I think The Invasion 3 should feature a mix of two designs: The old, vanilla-like design, and the new, more heavily-customed design. There should be levels resembling the old Invasion levels, just with some slightly remastered graphics, and then some more intricate levels with more custom graphics. Then there can be some levels in between. I don't want this project to have any over-the-top levels with customed everything, ridiculous length, or vast complexity. And I don't want completely basic, unattractive vanilla levels. This community has changed from making vanilla levels to making heavily-customed levels, and in my opinion, TI3 should join these styles together as an ultimate representation of the community.

I'd like to basically start the project over. The reason being is that most of the levels so far are quite heavily customed, and I'd like some more vanilla levels in these first few worlds. And we can place some older levels here and there into the first two worlds, but add many new ones overall. I feel like the design could be imrpoved (for example, some of my old levels aren't as good as I'd like them to be).

My concern is what would be done with them.

Like I've said, I think it would be best to change the name to something more appropriate and keep the old levels as is. Everybody wins, and there would be no debate about how well this episode follows up.

I really like the quality of the levels, no doubt, but the atmosphere isn't Invasion-esque. I'd really like this as another episode. It doesn't have to have this name to be an official episode.

This is a fantastic idea in my opinion. As others have said, having nothing but levels with heavily decked out custom graphics would feel nothing like previous invasion episodes. But on the other hand, having nothing but vinilla levels would be really boring. A combination of both styles would make for a great solution in my opinion.

I am personally agenst the idea of restarting the project from scratch, as we have put forth so much effort to the levels that are currently complete. But as you said, we could remove some of them and replace them with new, vinilla levels to ballance out the level variety in the said worlds.

Why not have the heavily custom new levels as secret level/worlds, and then the main story could have the more light levels as the main story levels. (Basically what supermario7 said, but a bit different).
