I'm not the only one who thinks DarkMatt should be demoted

If you continue to think I'm wholly responsible for your demotion when I have disproven it in every way possible, then I'm going to be wholly responsible for your extended ban. You get something to fit your complaint so you don't have to twist words to fit your argument, and I get to stop dealing with you trying to sound like you were wronged and everyone should blame me. Win-win.
This isn't me making a joke. This is me telling you to stop now, or you're going to ban town.
Same applies to the rest of you. This has been argued to death, so let's drop it. Next one to continue the shitstorm is getting a warning.

Yeah, I thought it over and to be honest none of this is worth arguing over. Sorry to everyone involved if you feel frustrated or insulted.
Also I think locking the thread would help.

No, it won't. You don't punish the thread when it's the users' faults for creating a shitstorm.

Wow, I really don't like the heated atmosphere going on whenever I go to this forum. I have to agree with the OP. The rules seem way to strict and I can't see any good reasoning behind it. It scares people away.

No, actually, the rules aren't strict at all. It's just the warning/consequence system.

I think that the warnings and consequences are part of the rule system. So yes, you are right. The rules themselves are pretty basic and common sense, but the way they are enforced is kind of frightening.

I apologize for the bad transition on our part - the new system for the Levels forum isn't quite completed yet, and it isn't DarkMatt's fault. I've been incredibly busy and need the time to sit down and organize the rest of this.

I'm going to have to ask you to stop posting in my thread with useless and unnecessarily irrelevant-to-the-thread posts. This is meant to be a debate and an actually serious thread, not a "lol thnx ppl" thread. Sorry if I sounded like an asshole in that, by the way.
By the way, I'd like to bring another instance here:
auto2112 wrote:Quill wrote:

It looks like Valtteri insta-warned auto2112 for this, even though auto2112 hasn't ever done anything wrong in the past, so his warning was, if anything, unjustified and too quick, especially on a newish user.

That's the first semi-unconstructive post I've made in this thread iirc.
And I was thanking Joey for attempting to speed up the update.

Note that this isn't a topic to debate warnings.
The staff is more than capable of disciplining users.

Why can't Kep do that? Are regular users incapable of even THINKING something's amiss? This is another symptom of that "me and my cronies are right nobody else" thinking some of us have accused you of. Also:

This isn't a very good representation of the staff team.

this thread is about the staff and how they should improve, correct?
giving out warnings is part of what the staff does, so technically it's on topic, no?

We don't need your opinions on warnings. That's not what this topic is for.

The purpose of this thread is to criticize the staff team and its actions with provided instances, which ironically are mainly about warnings that aren't considered justified. If you consider it necessary to have a thread about 'staff criticism' and another thread about its 'warning decisions', then we can of course make it happen. I heavily doubt that's what you want, though.

We could focus on the small parts all day long and never agree, or we can look at the big picture:
1. Listening to opinions != taking what you say to heart and completely changing the staff's ideology. See #3.
2. Normal users are not the voice of reason for this community. Don't try to tell the staff how to do their jobs.
3. There are going to be things we disagree with. That's natural. But, at the end of the day, we're the staff, and we're going to be making the decisions.
4. I've said multiple times that the transition from Knux to Joey is not going to be easy. I administrate in a very different way, obviously, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.
5. Like I've said, we're going to have disagreements, but you really need to stop taking things in this community so seriously. Someone gets warned HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWFUL WE NEED REFORM. Calm down.
