Option #1:
M9 - I Am Bad At Coming Up With Game Concepts
20 Players - Cardflip
Recruiter - Can "recruit" one person to the Mafia throughout the whole game. Can do this during either phase.
Secretary - Can send an anonymous message to a player through the host each night.
Maid - Is randomly assigned one person at the start of the game. If that person gets lynched, the Maid's identity will be revealed.
Officer - Can inspect people to learn their color.
Insane Officer - Can inspect people to learn their color. All cardflips will appear as opposite. Thinks he's the Officer.
Doctor - Can save one person from dying each night.
Secretary - Can send an anonymous message to a player through the host each night.
Judge - Can host a second lynching during the day with the consent of the Jurymen. Two of them must agree (unless there's only one left).
Juryman - Can contact the Judge to vote on his secondary lynches.

Signal Jammer - Can choose one person each night. At the start of the day, everything that person says will become gibberish. Has contact with the other third parties.
Puppeteer - Can select one person each night. If that person gets lynched, their full role will be revealed, rather than just their color. Has contact with the other third parties.
Poisoner - Can "poison" one person each night. If that person is lynched, their color will not be revealed. If they are not lynched, they will die at the end of the day of poison, but their color will be revealed.
Option #2:
M9 - Marfia
Capacity - 15 Players
Cardflip
Role Usage is Optional on Alternate Nights
Odd Father - A Marfia member that appears more innocent or something.

Extra Rules:
-Your vote only counts if you name the person the way the host wants you to.
-The host can decide if role usage is optional. This overrules the "alternate night" thingy.
-You will get replaced if you don't post at all during two consecutive phases.

For example, I would post a list such as the following at the start of the day:

3. NumberOne must be lynched under the name number juan

Demon - Can turn one person into a demon each night. That person will not be notified of the change, but they will turn red and become a third party for the remainder of the game using their original ability.
Cardflip
Role Usage is Mandatory
Option #4:
M9 - Sometimes Things Just Don't Go Your Way
20 Players - Cardflip
Godfather - A normal Mafioso who cardflips green. Each night, he decides along with the other Mafiosos who to kill.
Eavesdropper - Can PM the host each night with the name of one player. If that person PM'ed the host, that message is forwarded to the eavesdropper. Each night, he decides along with the other Mafiosos who to kill.
Sleepwalker - Visits a random person each night without performing any ability on them. Each night, he decides along with the other Mafiosos who to kill.
Sheriff - Can inspect one person each night to learn their color. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Doctor - Can save one person from dying each night. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Night Officer - Can choose one person each night. If that person visited anybody, or if anybody else visited that person, their identities are revealed to the Night Officer. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Doublevoter - His public lynch vote counts for two, unless he PMs the host a separate lynch vote during the day. In that case, he will have two separate lynch votes, one public and one anonymous. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
One-Shot Vigilante - Once during any phase, he can PM the host of the identity of somebody to kill. Instead of dying at the end of the phase, that person will instantly die. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Townsperson - No special abilities. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Townsperson - No special abilities. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.

Miller - Thinks he's a normal townsperson. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Millwright - Thinks he's a normal townsperson. Works with the town to get rid of the Mafia.
Serial Killer - Can kill one person each night. Works alone to kill off the town and the Mafia.
Jester - It's his goal to get lynched. If he gets lynched, the Serial Killer gets an extra kill the following night. Works alone to ensure that the Serial Killer wins.
Clarifications:
-Whoever PM's the host with the Mafia kill is the one the Night Officer will see on his inspection results.
-The Jester and Serial Killer do not have contact with each other.
-The One-Shot Vigilante only has one kill throughout the whole game, but he can use it during either night or day.
Option #5:
M9 - A Mystery Train to Nowhere
Capacity - 20
Cardflip
Semi-Mystery Game
This game has a slightly different ruleset from normal Mafia. The premise is that every player is on a train, and the Mafia has infiltrated the train. The train automatically arrives at the start of any given phase (in this case, the end of Day 8). When this phase is reached, the game ends.
This game would change around the Mystery Game mechanic to better suit creative players. Each player will receive a Role PM as usual, but the Role PM will have a variety of options if the player is chosen as a special role. There is a set number of Mafia, a set number of town, and a set number of third parties, but the player will be able to anonymously choose their role out of a set of possible choices. The game does not start until all players have decided on their role.
Therefore, here are the possible Role PMs:
x1 wrote:You are in the Mafia. You can choose to be the Assassin or the Godfather.
Assassin - Carries out the Mafia's dirty deeds each night.
Godfather - A normal Mafioso who cardflips green. However, this means that all three members of the Mafia visit the victim for the night, and therefore, if anybody else visits the victim, two members of the Mafia are revealed.
Your fellow Mafiosos are:
x2 wrote:You are in the Mafia. You can choose to be a Spy or a Roleblocker.
Spy - Can choose one person each night. If that person is visited or visits somebody, then he learns who they were, but not in any specific order.
Roleblocker - Can choose one person each night. Any potential actions performed by that person are blocked.
You fellow Mafiosos are:
x4 wrote:You are in the Town. You can choose to be either a Night Guard, the Conductor, a Detective, or a Doctor. There can only be one Conductor.
Night Guard - Can kill one person each night, but if that person was innocent (town-aligned), then the Night Guard loses his ability permanently.
Conductor - The boss of the train. He can choose to "stop" the train twice. Each time he stops the train, all players will be notified that the train has stopped moving. This delays the end of the game by ONE phase. There can only be one Conductor.
Detective - Can inspect one person each night to learn their color.
Doctor - Can save one person from dying each night.
x8 wrote:You are in the Town. You are a Passenger, who may be a Miller or Millwright.
Passenger - No special abilities.
Miller - Thinks he's a normal passenger.
Millwright - Thinks he's a normal passenger.
x2 wrote:You are in the Town. You are a Sleepwalker.
Sleepwalker - If anyone tries to nightkill him, it will backfire.
x3 wrote:You are a Hobo. It is your goal to prolong the game until the train arrives. If at least two of you survive, you will win at this point. You can choose to be either a Yellow Hobo or a Red Hobo.
Yellow Hobo - It is their goal to prolong the game until the train arrives at its destination. Is a third party. They know who the other hobos are.
Red Hobo - It is their goal to prolong the game until the train arrives at its destination. Is a third party. They know who the other hobos are.
Your fellow Hobos are:
So, which game would you guys like to see? I'm doing this so I know which game to submit for M9, so I need as many opinions as possible.
Moved to this thread.

Looks good, although I'd personally cut down on the player count, since that's more players than M6, and M6 already had activity problems.

Looks good now
Also could we compile a role index of all the roles that have been used in official games so far as well as variations that have been used in official games? I feel like it could be useful (as well as a "tips to making your own game" guide).

I'd still lower the player count a little more, honestly. But that's only from personal preference.

Updated this one.
Stölheim
20 players (5 Mafia, 5 Utility, 10 Town), Cardflip
It is the dark of night in the small forested town of Stölheim, and the noble of the town, Frederik Ziënger, has been found dead in his home with scratch marks on his chest and face. Werewolves are the suspected cause of this murdering, and so the town guard has been on active duty to try and rid of the menace that may still be lurking in the once peaceful town...
-Werewolves-
Traitor: Can kill a player once per night. Cardflips green when inspected.
Werewolf: Can kill a player once per night.
Werewolf: Can kill a player once per night.
Sorceror: Can disable the powers of a player once per night.
Spy: Can inspect any player each night (player's color will be revealed to the Spy only).
-Village-
Mayor: Can choose to either host a second lynching during the day where a second player gets lynched, or can inspect any player each night (player's color will be revealed to the Mayor only).
Town Guard: Prevents the death of a player once per night.
Town Guard: Prevents the death of a player once per night.
Cleric: Can heal any player he chooses at night if that player dies.
Executioner: Can choose to kill any player at night. If he kills an innocent, he loses his ability for one night.
Villager: A normal player with no special abilities. They vote each day to get someone lynched.

Mysterious Villager: A normal villager that cardflips red.
Werewolves win if they manage to kill the Village.
Village wins if they manage to kill or lynch the Werewolves.
If the Mayor wishes to hold a second lynching, he/she messages the Game Master during the night, and when it becomes day, an announcement will be made that there will be a second lynching, so everybody votes for 2 people to be lynched instead of 1.
If the Mayor dies and his color is revealed, his identity will also be revealed.
Each Night, the Traitor decides upon him/herself who to kill. Each Night, both Werewolf players will decide together on who to kill. A total of 5 deaths can occur in a Day/Night cycle; The Executioner's kill, the Traitor's kill, the Werewolf (Player) kill, the first lynching, and the second lynching. This provides with a pretty fast-paced first few nights as there will most probably be two lynchings, two deaths caused by the Werewolf team, and at least one death caused by the Executioner.

REVISED IT.
Hilgräd
15 players (4 Mafia, 4 Utility, 7 Town), Cardflip
This Mafia game is timed (hence why it is somewhat small). If the Cultists are not eradicated by the 8th Night, they will, quite literally, unleash Hell upon the city of Hilgräd, causing them to achieve an instant victory, regardless if the opposing team is killed or not.
The great merchant city of Hilgräd is threatened by a group of cultists who have moved in, terrorizing the locals. The problem is that nobody knows who the cultists are. Rumor has it that the cultists have been planning to, quite literally, unleash Hell upon the peaceful city in the coming days, but those are just rumors, right?
-Cultists-
Cultist Leader: Cardflips green when inspected. Decides with his/her teammates on who to kill each night.
Cultist: Decides with his/her teammates on who to kill each night.
Cultist: Decides with his/her teammates on who to kill each night.
Sorceror: Can disable the powers of a player once per night.
-City-
Noble: Can vote to lynch normally, but can also PM the host with a second lynch vote.
Bodyguard: Prevents the death of a player once per night, knows the identity of the Noble.
Cleric: Can heal any player he chooses at night if that player dies.
City Soldier: Can choose to kill any player at night. If he kills an innocent, he loses his ability for one night.
City Folk: A normal player with no special abilities. They vote each day to get someone lynched.
City Folk: A normal player with no special abilities. They vote each day to get someone lynched.
City Folk: A normal player with no special abilities. They vote each day to get someone lynched.

City Folk: A normal player with no special abilities. They vote each day to get someone lynched.
City Folk: A normal player with no special abilities. They vote each day to get someone lynched.
Stranger: A normal player that cardflips red.
Cultists win if they manage to kill the City, or if it reaches the 8th Night.
City wins if they manage to kill or lynch the Cultists.

1/3 of the players being Mafia doesn't really seem balanced at all. Maybe 3-4 but 5 is too much even for a 20 player game.

I agree with KoolKat, the game would be way too hard for the town to win especially since the Cultists have blue-like abilities. It'd just take too long to kill them as well, if the town only gets 7 days.

Yeah, I looked over that a second time after I posted it. It was worth a shot, but I don't think it's all that great of an idea for a Mafia game. Also, the only problem I see with having 3 or 4 Mafia members is that there is less variety on the Mafia side, judging that you have at least two normal Mafia and a Godfather. I think as long as the special Mafia roles aren't overpowering, it'd be fine to have 5 Mafia members.
Maybe I'll revise it later.
