Yeah, I didn't know that you two were brothers either. That's pretty crazy.
Anyhoo, I used to play Super Mario 63 a bunch, and I really liked its level editor, but was disappointed that it wasn't more similar to the main 2D Mario games (I don't blame it at all though, that's not what it's supposed to be like). I has screwed around with SMW romhacking a bit but always found it too complicated to understand.
I also was a frequent lurker on MFGG (actually, I still am). One day in mid to late 2009 Redigit uploaded SMBX 1.1 to that site and I downloaded it almost immediately. It was love at first sight. After a month or so I registered on the original forums, and started to drift away from the SM63 community.
I've never actually completed any of my various SMBX projects but I'm pretty proud of some of the levels I've made, few of which I've released. I probably will release them in some kind of compilation once I get back into SMBX (which I am planning to do in the near future), along with starting a new project, one which I have very specific plans for and am pretty sure I can complete.
The levels in the first episode I ever started developing were pretty bad to be honest. A lot of them were remakes and most of the others were pretty clashy (though they were made before custom graphics existed so I feel like that's an excuse there). The later levels I made for that project were also ridiculously difficult (so much that when I released one once in a holiday episode, the only episode I've ever fully released, Luminous actually approved of the difficulty) because I was super stupid and play-tested many of them with god mode on in the level editor. Thankfully, later on, I figured out that that was a horrible, horrible idea and tested all of my later levels properly.
That's basically my backstory.

No it wasn't! Mfgg had 1.0.2 and "Caiman" had 1.1.1. Oh yeah I got that in 2010 but SMBX 1.3 discovery was seperate. Oh yeah I remember there was this hello engine vs SMBX 1.3 video that's how I saw it. Ice Toad was freezin SMW spinies and they floated to the top of the water in an icy cave.

It was definitely 1.1 that I found on MFGG, it's possible that 1.0.2 had been uploaded earlier and then replaced with 1.1 (perhaps 1.1.1, I'm not 100% sure on that but I'm pretty sure), and 1.1(.1) was the first one I acquired. I'm positive it was 1.1 or 1.1.1 though since there were events & such and all of the classic episodes were included.

I always used to try out my levels on God Mode too :/
They were never too hard though. Quite the contrary actually, they were too short and easy.

Before discovering SMBX, I used the SMF level editor. When I got SMBX, I started a shitty project which was even completed, but now I don't have it anymore. I wouldn't post it anyways. Also, I didn't ever share this episode, as when I got SMBX, I didn't know that there was a forum for this game. The shitty episode I made was deleted because one day I decided to delete SMBX and all its files, because I got bored with its all the limitations and I didn't know how to put GFX. Maybe some months later, I've got SMBX again, when I discovered the site of SMBX:R (maybe in summer 2013, don't know) and so, since I liked the episode I made back, I decided to restart it again. After, in the 27th november of 2013, I registered to SMBX:R and exactly a month later I came here. Then, a month or 2 later, I posted this.
Here's my little story, hope you like.

I found out about SMBX through Youtube, and the first thing I tried once I got the hang of things was making a short episode of like 8 levels. Then ideas started flowing in, and before I knew it, the project turned into an absolute 13-world behemoth. I had about 9 worlds finished, but then I looked back and deleted all the levels I deemed unsatisfactory. Ended up scrapping all but 8 or something levels. The oldest level I still have today is Sunset Shore. Also, I now really wish I hadn't scrapped my Yume Nikki-inspired level. In hindsight, that was pretty awesome. But eh. After reorganizing and shrinking the project in scale, I posted the project here, and this is where we are today

My first project was called The Powers of Mr. L; I only ever got a little bit into world 2 before scrapping it. I made a lot of levels, but only about 1/8 if them would be considered "good" by the community :/
I started a new project, "Mario and the Sacred Stars," shortly before I joined the forums. I put it on hold to work on Dimensional Mine Quest with Waddle Derp and his team.

My origins are from Earth. Finland to be specific.
I came from a horrid, fallen empire called ROBLOX.
I remember back in the summer(?) of '07-'08-'09 (can't remember what year) I was looking for some Mario level editing thing and I came across SMBX in its very early stages. Then I joined the original forums, then I joined Knux's, then the original forums went down, then I left in early 2012 for some reason, then I came back in early 2013 or late 2012 or something, and then I joined SMBX:R, then that went down, then I joined this forums, then Knux's went down. And here I am.

My discovery on SMBX started in summer 2010 when I was looking for Mario games online until I found a fan game called Super Mario Bros X and wanted to download it and I directed my to SuperMarioBrothers.org and downloaded SMBX, and played it and I thought it was the best Mario fan game ever and I liked how there was an available feature that lets you make your own levels in the level editor, later in December 2013, I joinded Knux's Forums and posted graphics there until the forum took down stuff that was related to SMBX in January 2014 so I joined this forum because of the forum removing SMBX related stuff.

OK, this is probably going to be very long as I downloaded SMBX and played around in it long before I joined the community.
It was spring 2010. Being the person I usually was, I loved playing Mario flash games on the internet, but I always wondered how to make my own levels. That's where Super Mario Flash came in! I used to make all my Mario levels in Super Mario Flash and me and my brother (who's not an SMBXer) would play each other's levels and rate them based on their difficulty and style, rather like the reviewing styles used today. However, due to the limited length (of 4180, to be exact) and limited customisation options, I wanted to use another, much better editor, and I gave up on SMF.
On another day in that same spring, I randomly typed "supermariobrothers.org" into the URL bar, hoping to find some more Mario flash games, and it did have a load of Mario flash games! Little did I know was that two weeks later I would discover SMBX. When I did, it was love at first sight, and I had to download it because it had a level editor. This was SMBX 1.1.2, and my first ever episode that I played was TGCA (which is why I'm remaking it). After that, I decided to check out the editor. However, like everyone else...I couldn't extend the boundaries. I just made a bunch of one-screen levels demonstrating what I was learning to do in the editor. It wasn't until 1.2 that I read up a tutorial on how to extend the boundaries. This was the point when I was ready to start making proper levels, so off I went.
My first level was, in a word, rubbish. It was called "Deep Deep Cave" and despite the name it had a sky section at the start, as well as a castle, and an underwater section using the Tourian background (I was a complete noob). Every section had abominable clash, such as the airships in the sky section and those Zelda pillars in the cave section. I didn't know the concept of clash, so I happily made more levels - "Pipe City" was my second, and it was an SMB3 sky level partly influenced by NSMB's World 3-B level, and that was a homage to my original SMF levels. Despite the confusing look of the level, it was pretty linear as I didn't bother to make all the pipe warps myself.
I then decided to scrap the idea of a linear level altogether and make another massive cave level, which I'm still proud of. It was called "The Koopa Troop Hideout" and it had the player go all around the cave to find the exit, and being clever I decided to put spikes across the floor so they don't just jump down (as they're getting lower down the cave). However, despite the name, the ending was very anti-climatic - just a standard Boom Boom battle. I'd figured out how to use the Legacy Boss option by then so for me it was something advanced.
I did make some more levels but I'm not really going to go into them because this is getting too long. I actually joined the community in summer (don't take it too seriously!) 2011, after arming myself with everything needed to make an actual level.

I found SMBX through google searching Mario Level Editors. This was about 4-5 years ago?

Uh, my first memories about SMBX are kinda vague, I know I used to do a lot of stuff with Mario Builder, from like version 7 to 9, after that I stopped playing for a while, one of the Mario Builder youtubers I watched at that time had uploaded a SMBX level video, which was my first contact with smbx.
This video to be exact
I was quite impressed, SMBX had lots of functions that Mario Builder never had, also it seemed to have better CGFX options, which instantly got me hooked up.
I remember being on the original forums a lot, don't remember if I had an account there, and if I did I don't know if I went by GLuigiX already or still Gallade_Luigi.
I then remember the site going down for some reason. Later I found out it was because of that Nintendo suing Redigit story. I know I saw some youtube video about it, I even think I remember it by being an admin or someone who had contact with Redigit at that time.
I also remember at one point being on a SMBX forum where I had like two people I talked to, one of them was German and had something with Dark in his name and a number I think, something like 100 or 720 or something, I don't even know, it wasn't Darkchao tho, I don't think they're still on the forum. The other guy was making a project that had Cave Story bosses in it and I remember him wanting me to make a Balrog boss over Birdo for him. I also remember someone wanting a 3-up moon & star gfx in one, and I also remember fucking up the gfx horribly lol. I still remember feeling bad about it, I know tho that it worked in game, only when viewing it in level editor mode the gfx would glitch.
Well, after that I kinda lost touch with SMBX and the community, I still have some fond memories though, like discovering a SMBX youtuber who made amazing levels called RvBNut91, who I just recently found out actually was Chad lol
Then after some time I decided to google SMBX again and was very surprised to find that there was a new site that looked remarkably similar to the original one, which was this forum here.
Well, that was half a year ago, and in the beginning I was kinda scared of the admins and I never thought I would become friends with them. But here I am now, I'm a popular user, Level Judge, am friends with people like Valtteri and Knux, dated one of the community "veterans" and met many cool and nice people, and I'm so glad I found this forum. Even if it's really bad at times, you guys are my family. My very disorganized, dysfuncional family <3
Sorry for the tl;dr post, but I just had to relive everything I connect with this place lol
Oh yeah also I remember seeing this video at one point, I don't think I will ever forget it.

Yeah, SnifitGuy is my brother. I did say it once on Knux's Forum a while ago, but that was because he was a borderline troll back then and we had the same IP so I was just making sure I didn't get banned. =P

Well, this kind of Thread has been already existed and it is here but with a different Title: http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... 2652#p2652
I might as well post the same Story here too: bossedit8 wrote:My story.
At first in 2007 I thought of an Mario game where you can edit your own level. I searched through the internet until I found a game that is called "Super Mario Flash". I was happy for the level editor.
At 2007-2008 I looked on specific websites until I found another editor that is called "Mario Builder v4", the latest version of this game (now this game is keep updating) and here I was more happier because you can actually make an overworld map too.
The time of 2009-2010 (2011?) where SMBX has occured I want to really know if you can make some levels by it. After I checked multiple websites there is a SMBX that has a download button. I downloaded it and I already can say this editing software is perfect for me to make some awesome platforming games. Well, that is my wish: Making my own game/levels about platforming.

Well, I started level making on SMF (in which I still do). One of my friends in the SMF community, 7SuperMarioBros7, uploaded some SMBX videos on Youtube, so I decided to try out SMBX. It was in like August or September of 2013. Wasn't active on Knux's forum, I made one level though, in which I still have screenshots for, but not actually the level itself, because it's on my old computer. Then, in February of this year, when I got bored and decided to check out SMBX again, I visited Knux's forum only to find it was a TAOK forum. I found this forum later that day, and decided to register, along with trying out SMBX again for the first time in months (of course, I never actually finished a single level on SMBX until a few days ago, excluding the one from a year ago).
Anyways, here's the screenies from my old level from last year:

Well my story is simple xD
I love game designing and have been using a game editor for Zelda games for about 3 years now (I completed a few games in it). It wasn't until last month or so I got tired of that editor and I thought I'd need something else, for new inspiration and motivation. I thought wouldn't it be awesome if you could design your own mario game? Well, that's how I stumbled across SMBX.
A few weeks ago I got myself started on it, and I found the editor to be pretty easy to learn. I like it. I decided to join this forum and... that's it. That's my story Hopefully I'll have a wonderful time here in the future. I'll plan to work on my mario game AND on my zelda game on and off, switching back and forth between the projects. Currently I'm working on my mario game.
