Literally anything and everything is inspiration. I remember someone saw a leaf falling down and they made a SMM level about slow falling. (IDK why but I found that absolutely hilarious to hear, but hey, the level was good)

Maybe try to watch some levels from various SMW hacks. Some of them have a pretty good design and appearance in my opinion.

Sadly, I have not a lot of time to keep this going, so project development has been slowed down meaningly. I'll keep it up if I find a good portion of time and motivation to make levels. I just have a lot of stuff to do in my job and that is the reason why it is so slow by now.

Literally nothing is currently going on since a few months, but I have not cancelled that project, let's say it is on a hiatus. I'm planning to resume development soon and to continue levels that I'm due to resume to work on them. Just got a little burnout and I was out of ideas and motivation. Maybe I got set a "bar" too high in matter of amount of levels (it used to be six per world in the times of demo, now it is eleven at total). Despite only four worlds are mostly done, I think that project got too far to get it cancelled.

This is probably the BEST SMB1 styled episode I ever played! I hope you continue with the project. I love the way it looks, feels, and plays!

I just got some levels to get a trouble to have it done and another problem is that I got every level to make one by one in proper order. I would like to post a second demo as soon as possible if creative lock will go away.

In terms of SMB1 styled episodes I think, that it is too underrated. If feels very nostalgic and neat for me.

Ok, I decided to reduce amount of worlds. I'm planning to get it done at six or seven regular worlds and two secret ones (as for now). It will make my workflow much easier and get a full release much closer.

I know that might be not a good idea, but there still would be plenty of levels to play and secret paths to discover.

Sixth world would be a final one and will be built on multiple themes: mountains, skies and finally, volcano with just two final levels with Ludwig and Bowser (Roy will be present in "dungeon" level somewhere in the mountain themed part of the world). Alternatively, I will do seven regular worlds at total and to make the last one volcano themed.

New demo has been arrived!

It has four worlds, custom powerups, but overall - it has a little twist - four levels from world 5 in form of secret path leading to them!

It supports widescreen too, and gives a brand new world map.

Yea, I knew there may be problems on the world map. I should fix this and possibly more problems in the next fixing update. For now just enter world map (lvlx file) via editor and add level file path manually in level tile settings (Caramel Dungeon).
