Keep Eating and Nobody Explodes (review):
What a remarkably unique and creative level that draws inspiration from an equally great source. I absolutely adore this level, from its clever and very intuitively-built puzzle rooms, to the witty room names that always make me chuckle. Way to take an idea and put your own spin on it! There exists however one major drawback to this otherwise brilliant level, and that is, of course, nobody else but Mouser. Making (or keeping) his bomb-throwing capabilities RNG-influenced makes him a massive douchebag and a pain in the ass to deal with, should you decide to attempt that challenge legitimately. Thankfully there’s a very easy way to cheese him: you just have to slowly walk slightly in front of him, which will cause any bomb that doesn’t end up in a hungry Yoshi’s belly to despawn before it can blow everything to smithereens. Of course, that will only mitigate unpleasantries to a degree, since you will still likely find yourself with a bomb chucked to the face at least once, particularly whenever Mouser is descending on a downward slope and is thus situated lower than you are (guess Obi-Wan Kenobi was wrong after all). Also, as a fun sidenote, Mouser himself – intentionally, I’d presume – doesn’t actually have a hitbox, which further solidifies sticking close to him as the way you should approach that section.
But apart from the terror of the Cool Rodent there’s hardly anything I could criticize about this level: it’s just the right length, every room presents a unique and fresh challenge, it’s well-paced, and it all ends on a very high note as well. Bravo!
