How I see, a lot of users creating the custom backgrounds which can correctly displayed only in the tiled mode. I made configuration of background type for staff BGs in the INI file. Also I made INI-flag "tiled in the editor" (inside game will not repeat vertical) for something backgrounds. I can make the image export flag like "Display tiled background", and background will be tiled.

Quick question: Did you set the "frame style" value to 1 by its NPC.txt config? Default frame style for goombas is 0. I.e. single image for both sides. Framestyle 1 allowing to made the sprite for a left and right directions.
I'M A LET YOU FINISH, but, the creators of STTB already made the best rainbow tileset in SMBX.
"The Best" is dependent on one's preferences, so that's a bit of a ambiguous statement.
Anyway, back on topic. The tileset is quite vibrant and fits well with the background's brightness. The only thing i see being a problem is that there's too many stars in the platforms. Maybe cut back on the stars in platforms, but other then that it looks amazing as always, Airship.

MikeP, its a visual basic limitation. Apparently it can't handle dynamically flashing those colors which involves quickly changing the palette. won't be a problem in wohls engine.

redigit was going to add that power-up in a SMBX update which wasn't never released cause he couldn't work on SMBX when he started it.
