The classic
Paint graphics editor will be going away soon. 32 years...what a journey it has been.
...
(However, another program called Paint 3D will be taking over.)

Honestly, MSPaint has always been one of my favorite tools for drawing out rough sketches and shitpost pictures, especially the Windows 7+ version. I always felt like it had this weird stylistic charm to it, and I'm hoping this is met with backlash. I've utilized Paint 3D for the most part, and let me tell you, it is an unresponsive, slow, annoying piece of trash. I don't understand why they're ditching MSPaint, because it's literally the easiest software that you can package into an OS, especially considering the current form has existed in the past four (7, 8, 8.1, 10).
Rest in miserable little pieces, MSPaint, I'll miss you, and I will await the day that someone uploads you to some freeware site so I can install you again.

Aww... (Microsoft) Paint has always been my favorite art/drawing software but for now, it's gone.
However, I have Paint 3D alongside it.

Rip in pepperoni, MSPaint. Such fun times we had. Too bad Microsoft will remove you.

Because of the outpouring of fan support (which I suspected might happen), Microsoft issued this statement on their blog.

There is always Paint.net which is similar, and mostly better

It's not that similar compared to some of the charming qualities MSPaint has. On top of that, MSPaint is a little more user-friendly. Not saying I'd use MSPaint over Paint.NET for serious means, but it certainly has features that you can't get with Paint.NET unless you delve into plugins, which are becoming less reliable over the years.

Guess that with MSpaint on the store there isn't going to be any problems anymore.
Paint.net and MSPaint I've always found to be different beasts. Like, sure there's a remarkable amount of similarities between them, but they're also so vastly different that I wouldn't say Paint.net is a better MSPaint. Paint.net does have more overall features though.
