Wow, I'm not in Tier 2....
Yet, I only made the first section a badder excuse with the hard to reach platform when avoiding a Venus fire trap, a mistakenly misplaced warp and the boss that's easy becuase of the way the "Spawned NPCS" layer works.
Well, 27th place would probably be my stop, Tier 3 is a sudden!
But I agree with Pixel Pest, the judges aren't as great as I expected.

Either I'm lucky or the tier 1 and 2 levels were the true embodiment of sh*t level design, I didn't expect to make it this far with my first contest submission. Brings tears to the eye it does ;v;
The salt is real eh Pixel?

So, you don't have any selfstanding and straight go and agree with someone? Don't you have a opinion by yourself? What if the judges did score you well?

To a certain extent, if the difficulty is fairly implemented I don't think it should influence the level's score

Then for fuck's sake shut up and accept the fact that four judges didn't like your level. Of course your level's score would be low
if four fucking judges thought your level was fucking hard.

Righty-o Pixel. I decided to play it myself... (I downloaded the contest version, as that's what they judged) I see where the judges are coming from to be honest. I kept count of my total deaths playing this level. 16 deaths, 6 of which I constitute as unfair.
You know, I think the level looked fine enough (granted the limitations of vanilla level creation).
uhh... that's all the good I have to say..
The unfair deaths I suffered were either due to boos I couldn't avoid or a spiny shell cannon I couldn't see coming. I'm not gonna play the other version, but I hope these two blemishes were fixed. The fence section also could use improvement. I'm fine with enemies. But that part is quite cramped, pair that with boos that can
go through walls and that adds up to a lot of frustration. Once I was done, I didn't care to go after the second star. If the first star was this hard to get, I don't wanna know how much more I'd die.
If you want to call this review invalid due to me not caring about the second star, I won't stop you. But still, any feedback is worth taking into consideration right?

Yay another contest where the fun-factor of this contest is fading away!
... Does this happen like in every contest, even in unofficial ones...

Oh I am sorry, you wanted to make a hard level? Tough shit Pixel Pest.
This is a VANILLA CONTEST, not your poorly constructed difficulty contest. I didn't go into this contest expecting hard levels, but visually presentable and creative ones.
It isn't my problem that you can't accept four separate people calling your level too hard. Perhaps, and just going on a limb, you take the criticism instead of calling another LJ complete shit. You've proven yourself to be unreasonable and rude to other people, I suggest you grow up and try accepting other people's opinions for once.
I knew your level had aesthetics, but if you are focusing only on the difficulty...well guess what, the aesthetics start becoming irrelevant. If a kaizo level was the prettiest thing on the planet, it would still be known for its unreasonable difficulty. A pile of shit can't be anything other than what it is, no matter how much glitter you put on it.
_________
As for the "cant make proper reviews", remember I had to do 44+ levels. I used an Excel Sheet with categories and all that...so its not like "hurr durr don't like it, 0/10." I based everything off of these elements, so try asking before making assumptions and acting like this. <- @everyone

I'm not mad, atl east not yet. I am just irritated that PP wants to call me out for being a bad judge just because I didn't like his level.
His level fell into the same boat as the bottom two tiers: obviously gave effort and but don't amount to much.
I am not going to tolerate him complaining because he didn't magically win a contest designed to bring out creative and innovative design with a lack-luster level.
@PP
I hated your level because it focused on its difficulty. Not only was this a problem with me, but you made it too unfair. How are you going to REQUIRE a player to grab onto gates, and then put boos on them? And Spiny Generators. And Spikes. And other bullshit. Don't blame me because I don't have the patience to master this unreasonably difficult level. Be grateful I even finished it.

The point isn't the score, it's the elaboration on it. Judges should give the designer feedback on how they can improve. What they did right and what they did wrong. I don't care if you give a level a 1/10 which all other judges give 5/10 as long as the review itself is solid, but if it's just "Please uninstall SMBX", that's nothing short of rude.
If you're trying to argue like "there isn't anything to say about that level" then I will agree as long as all other judges also weren't able to say anything of substance, or provided a review from which one can imagine what you think of the level (though that's a case by case scenario).
If you're however trying to argue by saying "I'm not playing this shit", then I'd urge you to reconsider accepting a position as judge in future contests, because all it is is backing out of the task you volunteered to do.
